You are invited on a "trip down memory lane". Oh, they also dispatched a Garrard 301 and a box of spare tubes like CV4004/M8137/ECC803S etc. probably worth $000s now.
You are invited on a "trip down memory lane". The 10 tube phono preamp with dual regulated supplies and oversized external transformers I built back in the 80s which my folks threw away in ignorance when I was abroad. 45 tubes for Yamamoto A-08s Congrats on a beautiful amp. 6moons has a good write-up on the Yamamoto. The consensus is that the EML tubes push an already pretty hot amp into the lit up category.
How old to qualify for vintage? I think of it in different ways.1. Tubes and idlers (hard vintage)2. Pre-digital (soft vintage)
Newbie Question Check out these amps as an idea of what's out there off the beaten path.
Newbie Question 97dB will play loud with even a few watts. Depending on budget, speaker quality, and wherewithal, you could jump straight into a nice SET. If that's not for you, any tube integrated or power amp will be a massive improvement over solid state recei... |
