The shams, scams and dead ends of the High Fidelity hobbie/passion/adiction
Sould likely have included the second D in addiction...And a y in "hobbie"!
Finally bought a new Turntable!
If it sounds good and your volume control is further along than it was, you've less carbon track in the way of the music which is a good thing.
What other Hobbies or Interests Do You Have?
No time for other interests. Commuting to works wastes 15 hours a week. Work another 40. Maybe some reading and complaining about taxation without benefits and representation. Most money goes on home repairs and property tax.

@fruitloopsr Yes, I use them. I only recommend stuff I've heard and/or used.  Rhodium on phono preamp and gold on subs. OFC copper and well made. A big improvement over stock. I keep meaning to add them to my monoblocks but they are hard wired. ...
You could work for any manufacturer, past or present...
Myself. If I had been brave enough to sell my phono amp back in the late 80s. Who knows where it would have gone. After reading Paul McGowan's book, I can imagine. Instead, I work for the man and hate every day of it.

@tomic601 No mono with that one. But I did get it from another. Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps (Reprise 1979)One of my all time favorites. Sounds great.

Low ‎- Things We Lost In The Fire (Tugboat 2001)Low ‎- Secret Name (Kranky 1999)Prefer their slower, trippier output. I used hang with a girl by the fireplace listening to this. And we all know where that goes.

@spiritofradio Collection seems to be some Amazon repackaging of The Sophisticated Beggar, his first album. I guess it sounds a bit like Al Stewart the way The Monkees sound like the early Beatles. ;-)FolkJokeOpus is the third and quite different....

Sorry Lew, you are wrong on this one. Or, you're right. Maybe you've not experienced the improvements wrought from alternative tubes. Or maybe it's no big deal to you. Or your gear is so incredible that mere changes in tubes yield no gain. But fro...

Eureka Brass Band of New Orleans ‎- Jazz At Preservation Hall I (Atlantic 1966)Street dance jazz. You can really hear 20s swing in there.

@spiritofradio Different type of vibe but they did play in Les Cousins in London back in the day.

Found inside the cover the six pages of lyrics I'd painstakingly transcribed into a school notebook. There were no websites of lyrics back then. Bittersweet.

Roy Harper ‎- Folkjokeopus (Sunset 1969)Near Mint with no noise. Man, sounds so good on this rig. I saw the 78 year old Harper perform last year in a small pub.
