New construction ceiling advise
Property tax is an outrage. No one should have to pay tax on their home. Anyway, leave it open. The additional height will allow the music to breathe and the joists will act as diffusers.   
What about the floor?
Thin rug on concrete. Too much damping kills the sound.

Lady Blackbird – Black Acid Soul (Foundation Music 2121 RE 2022) Sweet, laid back jazz covers. Very smooth recording. Not bright. Quiet vinyl. Slight warp doesn’t affect play (how can they not get this right?) Tentatively recommended.
