Reel to Reel uses - topoxforddoc,The Sony looks intoxicating! I haven't that type of budget or room! But what fun? N.
Reel to Reel uses - Livin_262002Thanks for the PR99 update. I currently have my Pioneer RT-1050 calibrated for +6 tapes. That is a bit surprising for me, but maybe not if the machines were basically used for radio hot bias isn't an issue.N.
Turntable for life I would prefer a Rockport. I remember clearly the Stereophile review if that turntable, I think in 1996. I can't get past the Cobra arm, and of the two people I know that actually have it, they say it's a total pain in the butt to set up and swa...
Reel to Reel uses - cerrot,Spent the morning coffee in hand looking at Arian's website. I would love to hear one of his ATR10's. I just did a quick check of the ReVox PR99, and it seems that they are pretty reasonable. Even if you had to have a total service on on...
Turntable for life Rushton,The Walker is quite a bit out of the league I play in with the old Dual and Garrard. I remember seeing these at CES years ago. Amazing fit and finish. At the time they were really one of the few who were competing against micro-seki. One ...
Marantz 1060 vs. Mac 1700/1900 Schubert,My first experience in audio was Sansui. I tell people this all the time, they do everything well. Never any listening fatigue. Not a lot of snob appeal, but tremendous build quality and sound. 9090 is a wonderful silky smooth sounding re...
Reel to Reel uses - Cerrot,Ok, now I have to research Opus. Tape Project tapes are the only ones I've tried. I see that United Audio has quite a good list of companies offering master copies. Norman
Reel to Reel uses - Sam, What type of venues do you record live? Do you find that you are consistently using a specific mic polar patterns, or do they differ each time? I'm not familiar with the Gordon. Is it similar to a small mixing console? Norman
Reel to Reel uses - ct0517,Thank you for the procedure. The ReVox doesn't have this flexibility, at least not to the end user. And this would be another reason for buying a Studer and not a ReVox. Cerrot must have had a technician do it.
What is the best Reel To Reel machine ever built? Wonderful old post and yet not one of you mentioned Telefuken! They made incredible studio machines, with excellent build quality that ran at 30ips. N.
Reel to Reel uses - cerrot,I have a B77 series I. How were you able to get the IEC eq profile? ReVox is standard with NAB. Glad to hear you're enjoying your machine. Record your most listened to vinyl with it, so that you don't have to get up from your chair ever...
McIntosh MC7200 amp meter lights problem I haven't done it myself, but I know you can replace the bulbs with LED's. Here in Chicago Deltronics does it, so check with your local competent repair shop. The LEDs will last a lifetime.N
Reel to Reel uses - Inna,I suppose e differences that I notice are not so much with the Studer sounding better than the Otari ( some may disagree). It's just the feel of using the machine. It's silky smooth at every touch, and the engament has more finesse. That sa...
Marantz 1060 vs. Mac 1700/1900 I have had a ton of Mac gear over the years. It's really well made, the company still services everything and the sound is very good. To me Marantz sounds a bit dark and too warm. My vintage preference for receivers and intergrated amps is Sansui....
Why buy Pro_ject, Music hall, Rega turntable when you can buy couple hundred dollar a good vintage? I am a huge fan of vintage tables. The build quality is outstanding. If you're handy, you can easily service most everything yourself. Another reason I like vintage is that I prefer idler drive. Not many new ones to choose from and the prices of t... |
