Is computer audio pushing up the price of CDPs?
I don't think CDP prices have risen in response to "better sound forever" servers. It's deja vu all over again (thanks Yogi). Way too many threads here about which format wins and it all boils down to what sounds best to you and how much are you w...
Silver cables
Isochronism, I wish I was as fortunate as you to have discovered these gems at the beginning of all of this. I haven't heard everything out there but I truly don't believe you're missing anything.Happy? Yes. Enjoy? Most certainly. All the best,Nonoise
Silver cables
Well, I've finally broken in my Tempo Electric silver speaker cables and yes, they are da bomb. My Mapleshades have been supplanted (they put up a good fight) but when there is a clear winner the title has to be passed. The performance increase is ...
Where do audiophiles retire?
Anywhere with a population under 250,000, clean air and water and a town nearby big enough with great music venues. All the best,Nonoise
Need to hide cables
If you have the space, maybe pulling the rack out a bit into the room to better position the cables. If space is a consideration, somehow fastening or anchoring them to points on the wall with ties of some sort. All the best,Nonoise
Need to hide cables
Are you sure you don't care what it ends up sounding like, for the sake of how it looks? If you have some unshielded cables positioned parallel and tight up against each other, there might be some unwanted repercussions. All the best,Nonoise
Use Your Own Ears
I thought great beef, not audio, came from Kobe. Could it be that whatever they put in the beef made it's way down to the audio chain? (I forget just where they plant it)Also, if I undue the top button, will the blood flow increase to my skull, pr...
Redbook & SACD value
You might consider the Marantz Reference line of SACD players. I have the SA-15S2b and find it to be a very fine, musically satisfying player. An added bonus is that you can get it for new for what I paid All the best,Nonoise
Use Your Own Ears
There's no way other than to be candid when giving your opinion, when asked.I've been told by someone I trust that my system had too much high end energy and he was right. It just took someone else's ears to set me straight. For a moment, it stung...
Proofreader wanted
Signatures may indeed become secondary to thumb prints, retinal scans or some other sort of copy. Signatures are already impossible to match with current credit card displays that are common in most stores and try to make out your own signature, l...
Proofreader wanted
I've also heard about abolishing cursive writing and would like to know which group of idiots came up with that idea or whether it's another false meme that grew legs.Cursive writing (handwriting) is but one of many methods (exercises) which insti...
Proofreader wanted
On a tangent, there is a book out titled "Albions Seed" that documents the four major folkways brought over from the U.K. One of them, the Borderers, settled west of the colonies since they couldn't get along with the others and have gone on to ev...
Wishing everyone a "Merry Christmas"
Zydo said it best. It's just a way of expressing a convention and nothing more than common courtesy to others. And by the way, a belated Merry Christmas to one and all.All the best,Nonoise
Has anybody tried using single solid core cables?
I, too, have found and prefer, solid core cables to stranded. Also, try and forgo the connectors and go bare wire (commando, for those who eschew underwear) since all connectors impart their own sound signature. All the best,Nonoise
Mapleshade Double Helix spker cable: Rating??
I've had the Mapleshade Clearview and now the Double Helix and love just about everything they do. They've bettered Music Metre, Clear Day (single run), Zu Mission and Supra 2.5. The only caveat I have with them is what I perceive to be a slight d...
