Isolation Transformer - Use with Cheater Plug
According to code, the ground is not isolated by the iso and is continuous. The positive and negative are isolated.
Can DC power surges cause fires?
Al got it. It's just a high pass filter. I found this. I think it's funny. You might not.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Hi! I'm your friendly amp technician! I live perhaps thousands of miles outside the range of hearing and seeing your amp - even wh...
Can DC power surges cause fires?
The problem could also be related to a short in the left speaker or speaker cable.
Can DC power surges cause fires?
If the N.E.W. is DC coupled, avoiding a filter, then it's not a capacitor.DC offset in audio is an ugly, dry topic and far too complex to scratch the surface here. Some designs handle it better than others. I had one amp that was quite happy with ...
Using McCormack DNA-0.5 Deluxe as Mono Amps
Could they be parallelled with jumpers? Maybe using a small resistor (<1 ohm) between the outputs to reduce circulating current? There would be an advantage driving low impedance speakers this way. Less voltage but more current than bridging.
Are There Any Good, High Power Solid State Amps?
Ya, you're right. Sorry, I just glanced the headlines. Both the current 7B's and 14B's are upgraded similarly to the 28B's and are now balanced from input to output. Might still be more workhorse than racehorse but some speakers are more job than ...
Are There Any Good, High Power Solid State Amps?
I was reading a glowing, 6 Moons review of Bryston 28B's. Doesn't seem to be your typical Bryston and is the basis for the next generation SST^2 series. Looks like they go for abut $8k used.
New to Bi-amping, Crossover and Tube amp
Almost forgot about the Pass XVR1. Excellent and very flexible but costs more than your speakers. In the same price range, there's the DEQX processor/preamps that have digital EQ/room correction features and very steep slopes. Either are not simpl...
New to Bi-amping, Crossover and Tube amp
As I said, I've never owned or worked on Maggies. I was just assuming the mid/hi xover was part of the external passive since there isn't a lot of room on the panel. Even better, no surgery. I Should be more specific and point out that it's the Br...
New to Bi-amping, Crossover and Tube amp
How's this for a direct answer? Worth a deeper look over there.http://www.audioasylum.com/cgi/m.pl?forum=MUG&n=72187&review=1
New to Bi-amping, Crossover and Tube amp
Magnepan recommends:Low Pass: 18dB/octave at 250HzHigh Pass: 6dB/octave at 200Hzbut there is some room for flexibility on both slope and frequency. The Bryston 10B can be very flexible. Magnepan has (or had)it's own XO1 that can adjust for levels b...
Do Plinius amps have high frequency anomalies?
I made up some temporary speaker cables out of 10/4 SOW (had some lying around) when I moved because I needed more length. Did have a sibilence issue and I do have dual bridged SA100's. Ordered some teflon insulated speaker cables from Carl at Ult...
Most agreed upon best speaker?
None of the above. All of the above. Dipolar?
Amp for passive pre--more power or higher end?
Notice too that sensititity is proportional to wattage ratings. Often, within a manufacturer's lineup, the sensisitivity rating goes down (up numerically) as the amps get bigger. Often, there's a difference in ratings between balanced (XLR) and si...
Amp for passive pre--more power or higher end?
NAD has some good specs (20K impedance/1.3V sensitivity/29dB gain) for passives. Not as good as Plinius, which would be out of your price range, but better than many.Do you have any idea of the output voltage and impedance of the Lite DAC? Any spe...
