Speakers room positioning - diff tricks ? Look under General Asylum for "room acoustics" posted 1/29/03 by amos (195.92.168.163) and responded to by David Aiken on 1/30/03 (216.119.8.35). Good luck.
Speakers room positioning - diff tricks ? Currently on Audioasylum there is a thread on this subject (room reinforcement)to which David Aiken contributes to a discussion of bass frequencies - his summary is that to position speakers at 1/3 and listening position at 1/3 will tend to help o...
Beautiful, uplifting music... For something appropriate to the day, in view of the loss of the men of the Columbia, i would suggest Faure's Requiem by Herreweghe on Harmonia Mundi. I can think of nothing more achingly beautiful and fitting!
I'm depressed, my system hurts my ears. Please help matt, your creek could well be just allowing you to hear your CD player for the first time. CD players are notorious for producing unpleasant upper midrange glare etc. Thats one reason why so many folks prefer tubes in their players or preamps. I ...
KT 88's....what's the story???? I think that all power tubes can die of sudden unexpected death (you hear a pop - then no sound - you replace the fuse and the tube, sometimes you find you have also blown a grid resistor and need to get it replaced) as opposed to normal death whi...
High end vs internet I think that the shift of interest from 2 channel stereo to HT has killed off the small stereo stores that specialized in high end stuff and were not quick enuf to see HT coming and convert. I only started looking at the internet after i couldn't ...
Best Respighi Pines of Rome If you can find it, Reiner/Chicago on RCA. A Living Stereo LP.
Hissing You may be hearing tape hiss coming from the master tapes used at the recording sessions. This sound will be exacerbated by audio systems with an upper mid- range emphasis. When i look at your components my first reaction would be to expiriment wi...
Does a good monitor produce a compressed sound? Try moving your speakers a bit closer together so that the distance to the listening position is further than the speakers are apart (or move your listening position back or a combo of both) until you have about 10 to 11 ratio and see what happens...
Dynaudio and Nikko, a good match? Don't know if i can really answer your question, but FWIW the Dynaudio speakers are very unforgiving of the electronics involved. I feel that Dyna's are amoung the best speakers available but must be driven by high quality electronics to sound goo...
Does a good monitor produce a compressed sound? You should get a very defined center image from any quality dynamic speaker system, monitor or full range floor stander. With the human voice you should not be hearing a sound that causes you the feel the singers mouth is as big as the distance be...
Passive preamps and poweramp's input impeadance Is my face red!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had my head where there is no sun when i breezed thru the initial post and for some reason thought we were considering the OBH 12 passive preamp (my excuse is the several recent posts on this unit). The manufactu...
Definitive Beethoven's 9th recording Listened to it on LP years ago - i liked his 6th much more. Kept the 6th. I haven't compared his 9th to my current favorites - knowing what i do about Walters during those columbia years i can't imagine they would sound much like Harnoncourt's. I ...
Passive preamps and poweramp's input impeadance Another thing to calculate, that no one seems to be considering, is the actual output impedence of the passive which changes with the setting of the volume control (which will vary depending of the output of the source). The output impedence of th... |
