Fairly new to streaming. Where to start? @artemus_5 I actually just recently helped someone with this same question. My advice is to consider the DAC first, because that's going to have the biggest influence on the sound character and maybe you'll like how the DAC in a network streaming D...
Marantz 8802 Vs 8802A As PrePro You want the 8802A to support 4K UHD.
Importance of phase and timing optimization when incorporating sub woofers ? @snbeall the miniDSP SHD products allow you to adjust delay for individual channels, so you can adjust main speakers and subwoofers independently. You can use Room EQ Wizard to compute the exact delay value to use.Trinnov products support this as ...
Importance of phase and timing optimization when incorporating sub woofers ? Adjusting delay precisely (which will match phase) makes a big difference in my experience. Adjusting only phase isn't equivalent: your subwoofer could be 100 feet away and you can match phase while playing a sine wave but it will be easy to tell ...
Ditching Roon going back to BluOS for Bluesound Node 2i @dtximages where I feel Roon excels, in terms of functionality as opposed to visual features, is if you want to seamlessly merge multiple music sources and manage multiple playback systems.
Should I sell my DAC @ghulamr both the OPPO and Benchmark use ESS SABRE chipsets, so sounds like you like the overall sound of the ESS, and if you like the DAC3 more than the OPPO BDP-105 then I'd guess you want something as clean and detailed as possible. That being t...
Should I sell my DAC Better to listen to potential units and compare, and only sell your OPPO after finding a better replacement. Versus selling the OPPO only to not find anything you like and regretting that you can't get the OPPO back.To answer your original questio...
Basic Tidal streamer to USB DAC AirPlay has always been reliable for me as long as the network is reliable. Using 802.11b Wi-Fi to stream music from an old, underpowered computer can be a problem. That being said, I've gotten audible benefit to re-clocking AirPlay S/PDIF data si...
Basic Tidal streamer to USB DAC There are two primary ways of streaming Tidal from a phone/tablet to a network streamer, connected to your DAC.The first way is to run the Tidal app on your mobile device and use an audio streaming protocol like AirPlay to send the data from your ...
Higher End DACs Dealer restrictions vary by brand, but in general manufacturers do want to make their product available to as many people as possible, as long as the means of doing so makes sense.Your best bet would be to reach out to a non-local dealer you can t...
Higher End DACs For a single-unit network streaming DAC, I'd recommend looking at the Bryston BDA-3.14 and Lumin units. Which direction between the two would be a question of which sound character best matches your preference.I also really like Devialet Expert Pr...
Preamps with Dual XLR Outputs The Bryston BP-17^3 (Cubed) also has two sets of balanced XLR outputs. As well as two sets of inputs to match.
Streaming You should probably mention what your budget would be for a standalone network streamer. Also, there are many AVRs that include support for streaming Tidal, which might be the easiest approach for you considering you are already using an older AVR.
Bryston options @grahamsphillips we have the Lumin AMP here, by default paired with the Lumin X1. I'm afraid I don't have a good idea of how well it will drive the Martin Logan Vantages which is a relatively difficult load. The sound quality is very good but you n...
Streamer + DAC or streamer/dac all in one? I would not think of separates versus an integrated design as automatically providing sound quality benefits. The guaranteed benefit of separates is really the ability to mix-and-match and change things over time. |
