How to properly set up a turntable The most noticeable differences for me came from calibrating the left- and right-channel phase using software. Previously muddy stereo records immediately became a lot clearer.
Finally took the Bryston 4B Cubed plunge @xcool I don't find the Bryston cubed amps to run particularly hot. They are class AB and you will need ventilation, but even after extended use I feel fine touching them by hand. I find the Cubed series models sound very smooth and non-fatiguing,...
Catridge for sme 30/2 I recommend Ortofon cartridges, and we have an SME 20/3 with Ortofon Cadenza Black as our reference turntable setup. Ortofon cartridges have a little peak on the top that also helps to adjust azimuth, if the tonearm does not support rotation along...
Bryston 7Bsst2 vs Parasound JC1 In my experience from listening to both Parasound and Bryston and from talking to people about the two brands, the companies have such different design goals that a preference for one or the other matches very well to what the listener is specific...
Bulk XLR cable recommendations @bitginsiu the building code may differ where you live, but the Blue Jeans article on in-wall cable ratings should help.
Bulk XLR cable recommendations Don't forget to check for CL2, CL3, or Plenum since you're planning to run them in-wall.
Why do you guys pursue a flat frequency response when you buy a subwoofer? I think most people use multiple subwoofers when possible and PEQ regardless of the number of subwoofers used, in order to flatten out the actual in-room frequency response. Sometimes with a slight curve providing bass emphasis as a personal prefe...
Can a turntable be stored in a garage? Even if the plastic bags are airtight, the high and low temperatures can shorten the life of some electrical components. Also, a turntable probably has some lubricant which could vaporize and create a mess if the temperature gets hot.
Looking for best streamer without DAC under $3500 We use and recommend Lumin network streamers. Besides being very high quality, the hardware and software is designed and built like a real high-end consumer electronics (CE) product similar to most other audio hardware people buy.
RME ADI-2 DAC FS is it "All That", especially for under $2,000? The RME ADI-2 is an excellent AKM implementation. If that is the type of sound you like, and the complicated UI will not be a problem for you, then I would definitely recommend it.
DAC/Streamer alternative to OPPO Sonica DAC!!! HELP !!!! I'm afraid I don't have a particularly good recommendation within what I think your budget is, but one thing to be aware of with the SHD products is you cannot input or output above (it's notion of) 0dBFS on either analog or digital I/O otherwise ...
Preamp and Amp how much influence each contributes? @kfz03110 if you're not sure about your speakers yet or if you go through speakers more frequently than your other components, it would probably be wiser to allocate higher priority to your amplifier budget in order to get an amplifier that will b...
Preamp and Amp how much influence each contributes? I've heard preamps that influenced the sound character as much as amplifiers have. But the reality is amplifiers are a more difficult product to consider because of the need to consider what sort of load it is driving (i.e. the speakers). And thus ...
Integrated Amplifier for Focal Sopra 3 Someone I know recently purchased a pair of Focal Sopra No 2 speakers and is driving them with a Devialet Expert Pro all-in-one system with excellent results.
Visiting audio stores? I'm in Santa Clara county, California and the shelter in place order applies to us. So we aren't holding auditions or going out to visit anyone. But we're still available via our other normal means of communication like email and phone, and we're ... |
