Would love some feedback / Denon DL-S1 / phono match / cart recomendations
The ''stylus fear'' and the ''level of ignorance''. My advice is tofirst read what J. Carr wrote about ''carts repair''. The least problem by comparison with cantilever and suspension changeis the stylus only exchange. Gluing the stylus in the exi...

The question ''what kind of phono-pre do I need for the cartx '' in the sense of the amplification value assumes a phono-pre for just one cart. For the LO (low output) carts the advice is''about 70 dB''. But what about more carts than just one? Th...

I like assumptions to be made explicit such that we can seeon what grounds the conclusions are made.My assumptions regarding SUT are :1. The inductance  and impedance of both need to     correspond.2. The SUT's are divided in 3 ''categories'': L,M...
SP10mk2: OMA Graphite plinth vs.Dobbins plinth
Thanks chakster, You obviously prefer ''hifi'' literature above Russianclassics (grin). I am not sure if you ever visit German ''audio-markt''site? There you can find an unbelievable amount of second hand gear. By the category ''analog parts '' yo...

The big difference between professional made Obsidian plinthand amateurs made plinths are the dust cover which can bepositioned at whatever level and tonearm board which can beeasy fastened with 4 big screws . Those sell for 600 euro  eachwhile th...

SP10mk2: OMA Graphite plinth vs.Dobbins plinth
Dear chakster, To me it make no sense to pay more for aplinth then the TT. For the SP-10,mk 2 considering its weightthe mentioned plinths are obviously ''overkill''. My first SP 10plinth was SH-10 B4. I assume that ''10'' means 10 '' tonearm.I hav...

After 40 years in this hobby I deed it the other way round.''My kingdom for a horse'' is focused on the person and hisneeds. But what  about the horse? My brother Don (Griffits)loves his dogs more than anybody else. To me a horse is muchmore and m...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Well I see chakster as my (much) younger Slavic brother whileour (Slavic) custom is to tease the youth. I noticed that he is notvery optimistic about Putin's Russia and wanted to boost hissentiment by mentioning Russian industrial achievements : t...
Needle Clinic
You forget to mention what kind of cantilever and what kind ofstylus.
Cartridge mounting
As is the case with all adjustments:'' it depends''. In this case itdepends from the headshell ''screws accomodation'' and cartsscrew holes construction. BTW AT headshells have screw threadsat the under side. So in your terminology in those headsh...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Very impressive chakster I must, reluctantly, confess. Assumingof course you made them yourself . I was always impressedby the Russian metal workers as shown on the old Russianposters as hero's of the Russian industrialisation. I also see thatyou ...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Even the Americans imported Russian titanium with the helpof two ''fake companies'' in order to buil a spy airplane meantto spy above Russia. The Spaniard  build one whole museumform this stuff because it was so cheap. As far as I know thetitanium...
Anyone Ever Figure Out Who Really Designs And Build the Kiseki Cartridges?
Well I know from other sources about problems by polishingdiamonds. The first Van den Hul stylus design for Gyger (akaGyger I) was so complex that the fall out was huge. Then thesecond design (aka Gyger II) was simpler but also difficult toproduce...
