The best music in 2018
My wife loved the Teskey brothers. Can't wait for the CD.I find some new music cruising Apple Music but I'm also finding a good bit just going through these "what are you listening to?" threads. Good resource.

Great recommendations guys. Thank you. I think the Grados are open so that won't be an option. My wife already doesn't like the noise coming from the ear buds when we're sitting in bed.
Any Mark Knopfler fans out there?
The only difference I ever noticed was that some radio stations played a shortened version with the guitar solo at the end edited down to nothing. That used to tick me off so much! Interesting about other versions of the single. I bet there are pe...

Question: Some headphones say something about open or open air. Not sure what this means but even though I do not need noise canceling I do not want to hear background noise through 'open' headphones (if that is what that means).

Thanks Geoff, I will look into those. Ghost, I have not gone there, was not aware of it. Will look into it.

bdp24, not sure why you feel technique is my only criteria. It isn't. But I would think it has to be one criteria, right? And maybe a big one?I think one of the aspects that is important, at least to me, is how the drummer impacts and interacts wi...
Thoughts on Big Star
The first songs I heard by Big Star (and my two favorites) are For You and Stroke It Noel. They sounded very unique to me. Strange even. I've found a few others that I like but just not getting the rest of their work....but still listening.

I think from a purely technical, almost academic standpoint, that Peart is the best. He’s in my top three: Bonham, Peart, Moon. This is an interesting short but technical video about Bonham’s style. I’m neither a drummer or a musician so most of it...

Listening to Privateering right now. I'm enjoying it but it hasn't grabbed me the way Tracker did. Still early yet and lots to take in with two CDs.Will look at tour schedule. I'm assuming very pricey.

Ted Hawkins- The Next Hundred Years. CD. What a fortunate find!
MFSL CDs: Dumb Questions
I got the $5 Ted Hawkins CD of The Next 100 Years. The SQ is surprisingly good. Really enjoying the CD and glad I found it. His voice is amazing. I hear a little Ray Charles there, not as rich or as sweet as Ray, but it is certainly more haunting ...

Good points Walter. And isn't a good thing? If we all liked the same things I suspect the diversity of things would be far less!Often times when I hearing nothing that pulls me in from a band I move along. But when they have a good song or two tha...

Interesting take on Harrison. I've always admired Knopfler's approach to guitar playing but he is always ready, willing and very able to add an embellishment or ornament. Maybe he is the baroque antithesis to Harrison's controlled style?
