... thoughts on Taylor Swift's REPUTATION CD...
lowrider57, I have noticed that the sound quality on Dancing with the Stars is quite good, even live with live singers/bands. On AGT the sound is terrible and it sounds like a terrible mix...in other words, all you hear is a guitar and can't hear ...
Thinking about a new, lower end CD Player
The Sony I have is a CDP XE370. I know nothing about it. Feels very light and cheaply made but It has worked for a long time and has survived being punched in the faceplate so I can't say too many bad things about it.
Where are the blind streaming quality tests?
This is a quote from one of the articles cited above:"Clearly any analysis that chooses to discount individual results in favor of the group result is to ignore the most basic and most important ingredient of listening to music on the hi-fi—our pr...
Where are the blind streaming quality tests?
The types of tests I'm referring to would be quantification of subjective responses. And the test would have to consist of more than simply saying this is Tidal on my system or this is a ripped CD on my system. I've only been at this a few months ...
Where are the blind streaming quality tests?
@cleeds, such a study for audiophiles does not have to be comparable to drug studies and such. I think a broad range of listeners is an okay idea but I don't think it is necessary. I think any group of audiophile journalists would be where you wou...
Whats playing on your system today?
Nostalgia lane: BTO - Not Fragile. I think it was the first LP I ever got. A bit course and simplistic lyrics but still a great album. Wish I still had the LP. The cover was stamped so that you could feel the gears in the picture.
Where are the blind streaming quality tests?
Double-blinded randomized tests of this sort need not be overly complicated. Yes, they will be tedious. Yes, the design would need to be just right. Yes, the stats can be a little mind numbing. But it would not be expensive or even time consuming....

mr_m, Teddy Roosevelt said something like that....In my case, just a "short, sharp shock" to the face plate just left of the CD tray.
$10k Speaker Cables??????????????
@geoffkait  said: "It’s not rocket science."You got that right. But there is money to be made in convincing people that it is, right Geoff?
$10k Speaker Cables??????????????
Geoff, having been in the USAF on purchasing committees as well as on Pharmacy and Therapuetics purchasing committees (civilian and military) I can tell you for a fact that when an item is deemed "special purpose" vendors will charge more for iden...
$10k Speaker Cables??????????????
I think those are primarily for people who want to be able to say they have $7221 speaker cables.............But that's not fair is it? If $1500 cables (like mine) are better than $500 cables which are better than $100 cables....who are we to ques...
Basic/mid fi headphone advice.
I got the replacement ear pads and they are much more comfortable. Overall happy with the purchase and even with the replacement pads it came in at under $100 with free next day shipping.
Thinking about a new, lower end CD Player
Its a gift. I could never charge for it. ;-)Reminds me of the wise old adage: If it doesn't work, force it. If it breaks then you needed a new one anyway.
How are you hearing no difference?
I think the questions are the same for a reason.............
Thinking about a new, lower end CD Player
So, since there was nothing to lose, I turned on the old Sony and gave it a good Arthur Fonzarelli juke box chop and low and behold it is working fine again.
