***GROUP PARTICIPATION***SYSTEM CRITIC & COMPARE*** I think this is a good idea. Not sure how it will fly here at Audiogon but I'll bite.First, I like the Cowboy Junkies. Lay It Down is my favorite album of theirs and I really like it. Some of their other stuff leaves me cold.I have to say, Margo T...
I'm a beginner mlimpression, as millercarbon suggests you are going to have to give us a lot more info.Start with whether you are looking for a home theater set up or just music set up or combo. Then let us know about the room size, etc. Then maybe what kind of ...
An Excellent New Read: "A Brief History Of Why Artists Are No Longer Making A Living..." @2channel8, you say:"I worry about how the dwindling income of artists may affect the availability of good music." I don't think anyone, including the author of the article in question has established in any way whatsoever that the income of artis...
An Excellent New Read: "A Brief History Of Why Artists Are No Longer Making A Living..." @orpheus10 :Ivan, I'm just thankful that you are one of the few around here that's looking at anything outside of our little "ballywick". I'm getting kind of sick of hearing this. You have no idea who we are or what our collective life experience ...
Ask the local curmudgeon (me) anything related to tech or liquor. :) You can fix ALL of that by simply adding a lot more rum. Same principle applies to audio. I'm pretty sure that's why my low end system down at my weekend getaway place sounds so good.....sometimes.
What are you streaming tonight? JD McPherson - Let the Good Times Roll
North Carolina Audio Club @slaw : Sorry to just now be responding. I think the '@' function did not work.Is this the Carolina Audio Society? I see they have an event in Charlotte on Saturday the 30th. Unfortunately I will be in Charleston that weekend. Would like to attend...
Whats on your turntable tonight? @slaw : I found the thread. I think the problem is that the '@' function here at Audiogon is kind of wonky and often does not work. It didn't work in the post above or in the post in the Audio Clubs forum.Anyway, I am interested. I'll continue thi...
Whats on your turntable tonight? @slaw : "I invited you to join a group of audiophiles on the "audio clubs" thread around 9 months ago. We aren't really that far apart."I don't remember seeing that. Sorry, I must have missed it. Was that on a thread here on Audiogon?
An Excellent New Read: "A Brief History Of Why Artists Are No Longer Making A Living..." This is just a single article about one band but it seems to refute the premise of the original article on which this thread was based......except that the band sought after a more traditional Stax style SQ:https://theindustryobserver.thebrag.com/...
Whats on your turntable tonight? @tomic601 : That is an excellent article indeed. It gives me a lot of hope for contemporary music.
Whats on your turntable tonight? The Teskey Brother's album has not been tested on the DR database. The CD is definitely 'louder' than my older 'reference' CDs but less so than most contemporary CDs I have which is a good sign. Global compression on CDs seems ubiquitous these day...
Whats on your turntable tonight? @slaw : I did not know that Montrose played on that album. Good info. I have an early pressing but paid $20. It sounds pretty good though."Nothing about the The Teskey Brothers (lp) is compressed!"Excellent. At $11 its a steal then. As tomic601 me...
Kenwood KA 8100 Integrated Amp...No sound in left channel ? Contact cleaner like DeOxit works well and works fast. Got my 80's receiver running like new. But, that was only 8 months ago so I cannot comment on the duration of that solution. As teo-audio mentions it might not be a long term solution but coul...
anybody buying into magnetic levitation "eliminates the effects of any vibration" ? The product ad that popped up here on Audiogon recently costs about $1300. You can clearly see the retaining posts so there is no way it is completely isolated. So sure it has limitations. Everything does.I guess the question is: Would this product... |
