Underrated album: Sonics AND Music Great thread. Keep them coming.
Speakers for.....every type of music? It is interesting that someone mentioned organ music and a subwoofer. I'm mostly a rock guy but I like a number of the more popular symphonies. I have a good CD recording of Saint Saenz organ symphony. When that organ hits the bass notes through m...
Speakers for.....every type of music? I have nice, older equipment that sounds great to me with everything from prog rock, to jazz rock to classical. I can tell you what I have but I don't have experience with anything else so I can't help with comparisons. My speakers are Aerial Acous...
Underrated album: Sonics AND Music Steely Dan "Two Against Nature". I don't think there was a single single from this album.I'm pretty sure it got no radio play. And while none of the songs rise to the popular level of their other hits, from a sonic, SQ, production quality standpoi...
Best building material for vibration free shelving If different types of wood and metal, not to mention polymers and various shapes have such a profound effect on SQ, one has to wonder why multi-thousand dollar amps and pre-amps don't come from the manufacturer with better isolation? And why don't...
I am a "Moron" PC vs Vinyl purists. Let's see, what's next on the playlist? Ah, Rush, Hemispheres. Perfect.
Which band IS really America's Greatest (rock & roll band)? Agree with you dodgealum. R.E.M. sounded so different. I am a "Moron" Plenty of knowledgeable people on this forum stress over relative room humidity, cable burn in, iTunes vs Amarra, power conditioners, third party power cables, the characteristics of wood species for vibration isolation, etc etc.We should never ex...
Which band IS really America's Greatest (rock & roll band)? Bill, I like the kind of rock you like and I'm into the blues a good bit. However, I agree with you that your definition of rock is pretty narrow. It leaves out a lot of bands and music that almost everyone would identify as rock and also be unabl...
I am a "Moron" It seems to be a theme among audiophiles, digital or otherwise. Power cords, cable burn in, room humidity, various types of wood for isolation.....the list is endless. Skeptics and zealots abound.
Best building material for vibration free shelving I have heard that there is a lot of wood being imported from South America that is being called "mahogany" which isn't the real thing. I'd say if the price seems right, it probably isn't the real deal. Mahogany is expensive.
Little-known Gems Not much on iTunes for the Butts Band. A couple of singles.
Which band IS really America's Greatest (rock & roll band)? marqmike, Traffic was a British band. At least Winwood was British. whart, on what basis do you say that The Band was not an American band? I generally consider Canada to be American. Maybe "American" just means U.S.A.? That would take The Band ou...
Which band IS really America's Greatest (rock & roll band)? It seems like everyone (me included) is just naming good bands. The OT was about the 'greatest' American band. Most of the bands named are really good but few of them rate anywhere near 'greatest'. No one will agree on one greatest, obviously........ |
