What's up with Joida stuffs from Hongkong? I can't shed any light on your intriguing story. It does sound like a flourishing black market. I have had a Jolida 100 for about a year now. The only thing I think of to watch out for is leaving the earphone volume on unconnected. That can burn o...
Integrated Amps to drive Agogee Cepheus/Slant Hyb. Sogood, you been to our Apogee forum? Audiodynamo, tubes go nicely with those Apogees. Jolida makes some sweet hybrids for low money.
Best Component Ever, for the money two more bests FOR THE MONEY: 1) The Apogee Scintilla. Can be had for little more than a grand. It is a Quad on steroids, and it does go down down down to 20 Hz. 2) I want to nominate the very cheap Jolida 100. With the right tubes, mind you. I ha...
Top Ten Speakers of All Time? Rcprince, so it seems. I really can only relate the speakers I have heard, or my list would be dishonest. Not that I have heard only Apogees; I just have not heard any other speaker that I like over any full range Apogee.

Is there a cd player that sounds close to an LP? Yeah, that's one way to tame cd nasties, throw a wet blanket MIT cable over the signal. I am not so sure cd's glare. I just had some folks over for an audio party and one of them brought over a Wadia cd player. It went up against my far cheaper Jo...
Sonic Relativism? I don't think anyone here is saying all like equipment sounds the same. At least, I hope not. I do think that the audio believer is all too eager to jump on the latest gadget band wagon, in hopes of finding a magic bean that will cure all major eq...
Review: Jolida JD-100 CD Player Milindks: I don't know about MP3, but CD-R and CDR-W work fine. Verastarr:You beat me to the punch. Good to see such a great CDP get reviewed.
What companies, out of Business, did you LOVE??? And Apogee again and again and again.
Anyone heard the new Pass Labs Rushmore at CES? I have a friend who attended CES, but couldn't get a valid listen. I have talked with Peter Perkins of Pass Labs about their speaker, and I do like their philosophy, for the most part. It makes sense to me to lighten up on the drivers as much as p...
Anyone Switch from Electrostatic/Planar to Dynamic I'll wade in with a counter view, if it's OK with you. When you have the required room, what is there to miss with a panel? I have heard many speaker systems, and the most fulfilling have always been panels. I have been amazed at the improvement of...
Dipole/bipole or direct radiating Sogood51, have you been to the Apogee club house? http://audioworld.com/cgibin/sw/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number=1&SUBMIT=Gothere is a member there who uses Full ranges front, Duetta Signature sides, and Diva rears. There are others...
Dipole/bipole or direct radiating Dynasy, I have a an almost identical size room - mine has a ten foot ceiling. Ever since I first heard the Apogee Scintilla, I knew what speaker I would put into a big room. I have never heard a more convincing speaker. I have also had the pleasur...
Jolida vs. Planet 2000 vs. Fidelity A3 The Fidelity is smooth, warm, and detailed. I haven't heard the Planet. It should be good. It's predecessor is a classic. My vote is for the Jolida. |
