Speaker Cable Recommendation
If I were you, I'd try a set of Morrow Audio SP4 bi-wire. They have a 60 day trial period, and they are always having some sort of sale. Make sure to get the nude terminations, and when you connect them, try to have as much as possible of the cabl...
big screen - two channel system enough for dialog?
I've gone through 3 or 4 center speakers, and was never satisfied with any of them, due to their inability to render the human voice as well as my L/R tower speakers. I did not find any improvement in dialog intelligibility when using a center spe...
Your thoughts please
I had some Anti-cables with spades. I got to looking at the spades and they didn't look so good, so I took them off and connected the bare wire ends. I thought the sound improved noticeably with the bare ends. Also, FWIW, Morrow recommends their sp...
Which speakers should I get. $500-$1000
If you can stretch for these, I highly recommend them, as I just picked a set of them myself, and am very impressed:http://app.audiogon.com/listings/full-range-dynaudio-audience-82-full-range-speakers-2012-09-18-speakers-77573
Help me w/ small towers-bedroom HT/music system
As a follow up on speakers for this 2.0 bedroom system, I just picked up a pair of near mint Dynaudio Audience 82 towers to compare to the Monitor Audio 9i. I paid several hundred dollars more for the 82s, but they are much larger speakers and hav...
Good AVR to Power B&W 683's
Your receiver can easily handle the surround channels. Just find you a 3-channel, high current Parasound, Adcom, Emotiva, or other decent brand amp for the front L/R and center speakers.
Amp hums in standby mode when TV is on
Thanks, yes it is a mechanical buzzing, very loud at times. It is my understanding that the power standby feature on this amp is designed such that when it receives a signal and switches on, it is supposed to be somewhat in a "warmed up" and stabl...
Amp hums in standby mode when TV is on
Thanks! Yes, I do have cable TV service. Also, this amp hummed in the same manner when it was previously used in another room in the house. There is also a cable outlet in that room.
First foray into separate 2-channel amp, 200wpc
"WaterzlifeMtrot,So what's your experience with the McCormack DNA-1 RevA ???"Well, that's a long story. I had bought the DNA-1 here on Audiogon last December, but shortly after hooking it up, it blew up. I think something was amiss with the amp fr...
McCormack DNA-1 vs. Adcom GFA-5802
I just got back from SMC audio my DNA-1 that cratered just after I bought it here on Audiogon last fall. It took them about 6 months, but they finally were able to repair it. Apparently, a bunch of stuff blew out when it died. I have not yet had a...
Revel F12's ---- A very happy upgrade for me.
Thanks for the report. I've been considering a lot of options in that range, including the F12, Monitor Audio, KEF, and Focal. It's hard to do any kind of comparisons around here due to not having much in the way of dealers with speakers set up an...
Which cables cause issues for high bandwidth amps?
Bojack,I do have on hand a set of old 12 ga Esoteric Ultra Cable Premier OFHC that I can use for the LF terminals and a set of Morrow Audio SP2 that I can use for the HF terminals. The Goertz cables ended up being used because I was trying out the...
Which cables cause issues for high bandwidth amps?
Thanks for all the replies. My cable length for this setup is 8-10 feet.
Which cables cause issues for high bandwidth amps?
Oh, also, the guys who are repairing my McCormack amp are discouraging the use of the Goertz cables, EVEN WITH the use of the Zobels across the terminals.
Which cables cause issues for high bandwidth amps?
Thanks for the replies!First, I am confident the cables were hooked up correctly. Also, I am now using the exact same set of cables with a Yamaha receiver and Monitor audio speakers and everything has been working fine for months, and the sound is...
