Krell 707 vs Theta Casablanca 4
Thanks for the great info here on processors! I am very intrigued with the apparent audio quality they can achieve both for two channel and home theater. But, with 4K/UHD and HDMI 2.0 now entering the market, where does that leave these HDMI 1.4 p...
First foray into Class A amp -- recommendations
@Dave 72,I actually have a close dealer who sells Accuphase, Krell, Pass, and ML, but, of course, then I am looking at new or demos, which are going to be more than I want to spend. I'd like to listen to his stuff, but I don't think it's right to ...
First foray into Class A amp -- recommendations
@Pnmeyer,Well, yes, the McCormack is pretty good. I just thought I'd check out a nice used big class A amp and see how much difference, if any, I can discern. If not, I can just sell it. I will never know unless I check it out for myself.
First foray into Class A amp -- recommendations
Thanks for all the replies and info! Well, because of space constraints, I am mostly considering stereo amps, which is why I sort of landed on the Krell KSA-200S. I initially was thinking used Pass X250.5, but that runs ~$5000 used and is Class A/...
Thoughts on these budget speaker cables please?
AQ CV-8 are available for about half price on close outs. I got an 8 foot pair and pretty dang impressed. Sorry, I don't have experience with Huffmans.
Morrow Audio Cables
Yeah, I have a set of SP2 cables on the high frequency terminals of my tower speakers. Pretty dang clear and sweet on the mids and highs. I've never tried the SP3 or higher speaker cables, but I'd like to try them. Morrow claims you get more of ev...
Kimber 8TC beater?
I don't know the cost of the 8TC, but I just picked up a set of Audioquest CV-8 for about $400 on close out, and blown away by the imaging and placement of instruments.
What most important in the sound of your cables?
Well, I'll chime in on this. I'm not sure I can really put my finger on what is most important in cables for me. I guess it would be a general sense of instruments and voices sounding and impressing me more like what I've heard live. Over the year...
Speaker cable manufacturers
Jedinite,I am currently using Morrow SP2 for the high frequency run to my bi-wireable speakers. Before the Morrow, I had Anti-cables, and it seemed the Morrow was far superior for high frequencies.
upgrading... which amp?
If you can find a used Sherbourn 5/1500A in good condition to try out, you may like it. 200 wpc x 5 channels, with FIVE toroidal transformers, weighs 80 pounds. It also has a signal sensor which turns it off after a period of inactivity, and also ...
upgrading... which amp?
First, exactly what do you mean by the Sony becoming "tired" lately? Usually, a receiver either works or it doesn't. Have you checked to make sure the speaker cable connections are snug? Aside from that, I wouldn't worry about having too many watt...
Interconnects & Speaker cables
For the speakers cables, Clear Day Cables are silver. Check with Paul to see if they will meet your needs.
High End Audio-Gaining Higher Ground?
I've had reasonably decent audio/video equipment since I was about 30 years old, which is when the first of my four children was born. Three of them are now grown and on their own. I don't know why, but none of them has ever shown any interest in ...
Pass Labs Amp X350.5 or X350.8 anyone compare?
I'm also interested in this. I believe the info on the Pass website claims that the .8 models operate MORE in class A than the .5.
Your favorite musical non fatiguing speakers?
Wow! Is this true? After all Larry has posted about his speaker search and all the positive words about the Parsifals, it would be nice for the rest of us and those who helped him in this thread if he would give some sort of explanation.
