Replacement CD on a tight budget?
You might be able to find a Denon DCD-1520 or DCD-1560 for that budget. Maybe also a NAD BEE series for a little more.
ARC Ref 3 and ARC Ref 110 tubes
Plug the right channel cable output from the preamp into the left channel input of the amp and vice versa. This is just switching the channels. If the left channel output from the preamp is faulty, the noise will shift to the right speaker. If the...
Best, or ideal record clamp
I third the TT Weights clamp on NON-threaded spindles. The best clamp that I have tried on a 1/4 x 20 threaded spindle is the Teres Audio. I have (2) of the TT's on other tables and they really are NICE. Larry is wonderful to work with. You should...
ARC Ref 3 and ARC Ref 110 tubes
You can narrow down the choices to either the preamp or amp. Switch interconnect channels from the preamp to the amp. If the crackle stays in the left channel, it's the amp. If it changes to the right channel, it's the preamp. Then go from there. ...
Haitian Divorce lyrics
Here's the facts from the lips of Fagen himself. The following article appeared in the December 25, 1976 issue of Sounds:"Well, the first few verses are plain enough. Babs and Clean Willy get married, right? But things don't work out somehow, and ...

12AX7/LPS Sovtek - I am very confused, please help
I bought (4) of these from a vendor that doesn't even offer testing or matching and all (4) of them tested perfect on my tube tester. They sound great too, so I'd say you have a bad tube.
Atlanta Rhythm Section best album?
Red Tape is mine, followed by Champagne Jam. I think Red Tape deserves a spin on the table today. I've been...Shanghaied, call the Police! Police!
Is a Grace F9-L stylus usable on a F9-E cartridge?
If you read the info from the Cartridge Database, it sure looks like the stylii will fit any of the F9 bodys. It lists the "L" with all the others? If not, I stand corrected...http://www.cartridgedb.com/
Is a Grace F9-L stylus usable on a F9-E cartridge?
The Grace F9 series cartridge BODY is the same. The different stylii have different shaped tips. The "E" was elliptical and the "L" is an Elliptical (0.2 x 0.8mil) Vital contact. You can use any F9 stylus with the F9 body.
phono preamp crackling
He has a PS Audio phono stage that is solid state, not tube. I would suspect maybe a high level of static electricity build-up somewhere around his system. Try a product called "Anti-Shock". It is a spray that reduces static. Spray on carpet and/o...

I have ordered several faceplates from ARC through the years. They have always been around $200-$250. Handles were always around $80.
