Turntable sibilance You didn't say whether the sibilance was present more on the inner grooves(an indication of too little anti-skate)of the record.
Your favorite LP nobody has ever heard of I second "Isle of View" by Jimmy Spheeris. "All of My Reasons" by Noel Pointer(he plays violin, but I would call it a Jazz album[maybe].).
Uturn Orbit turntable I think there is a Uturn Orbit playing a record, either on YouTube or on Michael Fremer's site.
Suggestions for arm to replace VPI 12.7 I would be interested, Sdcampbell, in your thoughts about the new arm, compared to the old one(just checking my hearing, here.).
Help me improve Rega P2 I believe Wahwah is correct about the Ariston RD11s being a better turntable than the P2, and that's why the bass was better. That being said, you would have to do some research on where to get parts, as Ariston is not around.
Anyone try Synergistic Research PHT... This may not be related to audio. If you, let's say, decide to try a nutritional product, claimed to increase your energy, I think it's important that you have a positive bias, when you take it. People will say it is the placebo effect, but I thin...
Suggestions for arm to replace VPI 12.7 I have no knowledge, other than preferring that new 3D arm, compared to their regular arm, done on Michael Fremer's site.
Philosophy: Bearing vs. Unipivot "Perhaps that was what you were thinking of" might be what I read, when there were just a few unipivot arms(Maywire, etc.). That could have been the basis for Ivor's argument, back in the day.
Anti-skating- test records vs. ears Zavato, although I haven't read all the responses, you are a very lucky man. You have the Linn Forum(and a few others), where they have put in a lot of work with your tonearm, cartridge, and table. I suggest that's the place to start. Although we m...
Help me not let this happen again If your arm was not a unipivot(of which, I know nothing), I would suspect anti-skate(as a possible cause). I know it's not the popular answer, but I would look into what the cartridge and, possibly the arm's, recommendations are on anti-skate.
New VPI 3D Arm I did hear the comparison between the 3D arm and the regular arm(on Mikey's site?), and was suprised at how many chose the regular arm. I don't know the cost difference, but thought it to be a definite improvement.
Dialing in Fun I want to compliment you, Bigby, on finding out what VTA actually does, rather than trying to use it to correct other problems.
has anyone else tried Lloyd Walkers latest tweak I wonder if tensor ring technology could be applied to audio?
Music: Notes Or Sounds ? Syntax, I guess you really don't like the Lp12. I just thought that their philosophy, although maybe not fully implemented, really deals with the difference between notes and sounds-much more than Absolute Sound and Stereophile were proposing. If ...
Music: Notes Or Sounds ? Syntax, I know you don't like to acknowledge Linn's philosophy, or maybe their resulting products, but isn't that essentially what they are saying, or we can conclude that from what they are saying? Getting what the musician intends is more import... |
