How can it be that some old recordings sound sublime? Don't forget that recordings, starting about 1982, had digital involved. Current digital might be much more acceptable, but I don't like most cd's until about 2000.
Used Linn sondek lp12 worth? Be very careful moving the deck. You don't want to have the parts move(spindle bottoming out; arm moving; springs violently being affected[the springs hold up the arm board and platter]. I would suggest you consider Mapleshade's maple board and ...
Oracle Paris MK5 VS REGA Rp8? If you like the Rega RP8 with the Ortofon cartridge, why would you try to talk yourself out of it. You could listen again, looking out for that speed situation(.25% fast)-maybe by having your dealer check it.
Integrating a new turntable into existing system and having sound quality problems... You may have 2 problems, but one symptom might be alleviated by reducing your anti-skate.
Why would anyone want 180g records ? "Elephant Mountain" by the Youngbloods came in 3 different thicknesses over the years. The thickest(and probably the first) one sounds substantially better than the other 2, but maybe it was due to other factors. I've also not found copies of th...
Turntable for life I agree with casaross, for similar reasons(Linn LP12). You'll find many of the other turntables to be unsupported(the companies go out of business.). Otherwise, since I won't be making more money in the future, I would look at cheaper alternativ...
Turntable Wars- Reviewers take sides And you moved, johnny53?
What the *#$@ happened?? Since you have the maple, I would look at Mapleshade for what else they do with their maple platforms. I've had good luck with their rubber/cork/rubber footers under the maple( i think I used just 3.). As for talking yourself into something, I s...
Linn sondek vs sme I have been able to discern differences in turntables on Youtube-at least those differences I'm interested in. I'm not really listening for the sound, but the overall ability to convey the song to me. I would listen to Pasinee for the LP12 SE, b...
Digital versus Vinyl - Grinnell College Review Analog is relaxing, and digital isn't. Why do you listen to music? Digital makes you say, "Wow, that sounds unbelievable"(an intellectual response), while analog makes you want to listen to more.
To all LP12 aficionados Not sure, but you can listen to Radikal on YouTube, under Pasinee. Be a little careful, because he uses other Linns and things like a different top-plate(Khan?). Newer Radikals already have Dynamik now.
Linn Sondek LP12 impressions If you are looking at cheaper turntables that are interesting, I would include Audio Note TT2 and JC Verdier La Platine(I think that's the name.). When it comes time to upgrade your turntable, there are many advantages to changing things on your ...
No cartridge is good enough. I'm not sure 96K does it for me.
What is your recommendation on upgrading a Linn LP In England, they would recommend you see a Linn dealer. I know Thomas OK is one in the U.S., as he comments on the Linn Forum. They usually recommend you get a Cirkus bearing(and now, with the Kore[one subchasis], you might do both at the same t...
Better than the Project Carbon TT for $ 500.00 Johnnyb53, while it is good to know what others(especially a turntable manufacturer who makes both) think, I don't think it's that hard to audition for yourself-especially at that price-point, and inherent deficiencies(I should phrase that differe... |
