Number of yrs. to reach the finished line?
Gotta say, I have no current plans for major changes. I have owned the Aerial 9's for about 5 years, Lector for 3 yrs. and Tom Evans Vibe/Pulse for 3 years (off and on - I have owned several of them). I have only had my Clayton amps about a year, ...
Is this the END of DAYS for the high end CD player
when it does not seem that way is when I will make a move to hard drive based storage, or possibly cloud based hi-rez stream and playI agree with Grannyring and Pubul57. For now I am actually going back and forth between two excellent players, one...
Anyone heard the new Cary SA-500.1 Monoblocks?
Stan, I looked very hard at the 500.1's and ultimately decided to upgrade my Clayton's instead. I might have been swayed if there had been more information out there about the 500.1's but they are quite new. I understand there may be a pair curren...
Best Bike to ride before a good listening session
Any bike I am riding at the time is the best. There is no bad ride. My riding goes about 2/3-1/3 road to mountain and both are great fun. Like audio, I sometimes think folks (me included) get too wrapped up in the gear and forget that the fun is i...
Once again...looking for a "tube like" SS preamp
None of them have the harmonic richness of dimensionality that tubes can give.Mikey, have you heard a TEAD Vibe7 with Pulse II? I am not going to argue that it is the same as a tubed preamp, but it certainly has the harmonic richness and dimension...
Once again...looking for a "tube like" SS preamp
I agree with Philjolet who said above,Look for excellent solid state and enjoy it for what it is......and Dover nailed it with the Tom Evans recommendation. I own the TEAD Vibe (Lithos 7) with Pulse II and it betters every single SS preamp I have ...
Tom Evans Audio Design Microgroove + X Review
Thanks for the mini-Vibe/Pulse review; It was the Vibe/Pulse that was really a game-changing piece of equipment for me: a blackground blacker than I had ever heard before, with quite stunning macro dynamics, and full and complete tonal saturation w...
Piece of Audio gear you regret selling
The only gear I regret selling was my very first transaction which put me on the path of Audiogon, etc. - a pair of ADS L810's in mint cond. However, I will give an honorable mention to a CAT Ultimate MkII with CD taper volume that I sold a couple...
Mosfet mist?
Lamm does ok with their mosfet based hybrids.
McCormack DNA-750
These have been introduced very quietly. No reviews that I am aware of although they seem like they could be similar to a pair of bridged DNA 225 monos. I do have a picture of the insides and there are a few of the CJ capacitors in them. CJ also o...
Cardas Cold Forging
Geez Bobby, sorry but I totally missed tuboglo's post. I am on board with the process since I use high pressure hydraulic crimpers on the cables I make; using a similar die, two crimps and trim the spades, very similar to the Cardas video, but of ...
Cardas Cold Forging
Thank you Bobby, you addressed my question from 4/2 about whether the enamel is removed. Can you add any more details about how they remove it prior to the cold forge process? I suspect that is not easy in the absence of tinning the wire.
