Isolation device under Ayre CX-7e? Thats just great..., now I am going to have to visit a bunch of bars so I can evaluate the optimal bar coaster composition, and which one sounds the best. The potential bar coaster tweeks could be endless, does it sound better soaked in beer, vodk...
How tubes influence sound Your question is quite broad-ranging, and there is really no simple one-fits-all answer. There are different circuit designs using tubes, different tubes and different utilization of the tubes. Some designers only use tubes in a portion of the cir...
Ayre and McCormack ... a good match? Hi John, your point is well taken. I wish I had considered that option at the time I posted, but I was in a hurry and just plain didn't think of it. At the time I thought it would be better to be up front that I was selling one. However, after rea...
Ayre and McCormack ... a good match? Ok, this is a shameless plug, but the comments are true. Disclaimer - I am currently selling this;http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?preatran&1171971732&itemI have recently tried the K-5xe with my DNA 500 and thought it performed very w...
CD player upgrade/ Arcam vs. Ayre I also own the CX-7e, and while I find it of similar quality to my previous Muse 10 I discussed in this post last July, it is different sounding in a good way. I would say the Ayre has better resolution and definitely deeper bass. The only thing I...
adding a fan to an enclosed cabinet Kgproperties, very cool implementation of a ventilation system. Depending on one's situation, the fan could actually be mounted in a basement, if the hose can be run through the wall and/or floor. By placing the cabinet openings at the bottom, siz...
adding a fan to an enclosed cabinet This is like Deja-vu. I have a cabinet similar to Sonofnorway, purchased the variable dc power supply from Radio Shack like Chadnliz's friend, and use the exact fan pictured in the link by Mijknarf. The only thing I can add is whether you blow in ...
Isolation device under Ayre CX-7e? Mine sits on 3 myrtle blocks, which are placed on a Black Diamond slab, which rests on top of a Zoethecus Z slab, which is on the wood shelf to my rack. Probably could do without either the Black Diamond slab or the Z slab, but it sounds just fine.
Preamp Quandary - sonics vs. ergonomics?? Can't do that with the DNA 500, per Steve McCormack -"I usually design my amps with a 100K input impedance for maximum compatibility, but using the Jensen (or Lundahl) input transformers forces a shift to 10K (at least for the 1:1 types I prefer)....
Preamp Quandary - sonics vs. ergonomics?? More good responses, and a good discussion, thanks guys. Jmcgrogan2 - I must have been thinking of the Ref 2, you are right the Ref 3 is more expensive. Bob_Reynolds makes a good point, and that is exactly where I am at now, trying to decide if I ...
Preamp Quandary - sonics vs. ergonomics?? Thanks guys for your comments. Tvad - you are right, I do like the McCormack and think it is an outstanding amp. I never have to worry about SS haze or grain with that amp, and I never have to worry about lack of power for the Aerials. I am curiou...
Upgrading Sonic Frontiers Line 3SE to ??? From the discussions here regarding bass and what tubes are best in preamps, I really think you would be plesantly surprised if you were able to try one of the Atma-Sphere preamps, the MP-1 or MP-3 (6SN7 and 12AU7 in linestage), in your system - m...
Upgrading Sonic Frontiers Line 3SE to ??? I owned the Line 3SE for awhile, and liked it but didn't find that it did much more for me than my SS pre at the time. I also thought the bass was just a bit loose and lacking in detail. If you can put up with no remote and a clunky 23 step volume...
Can I ever stand to listen to our system again My sincere sympathies. It sounds as if you shared a passion for music with your wife, and cherished your time together. May your family, friends, good memories, and music bring you some peace.
What is a Home Theater Bypass Some do not realize it is fairly easy to connect and integrate your your home theatre with your two channel system, even without the HT bypass. The benefits of the HT bypass are essentially the convenience of pressing just one button to switch ove... |
