Power cable with small connector / termination
3" diameter? Surely you exaggerate. You don't say where you are, but if its an IEC connector those are only a little over 1". Probably a 1.25" hole will suffice. Or maybe you're trying to run several through just one hole and left out that little ...
Dumb break in question...
Its not that hard. You run it good and long with nothing connected. Then when you're really sure its run long enough you hook it up and listen. Then if you still hear it change and get better, which you will, then guess what?  Unfortunately we nev...
Vinyl vs. top-notch digital
Yes. 1/4” tape. I’ve never heard any debate from the vinyl crowd on which is more superior, many discussions though. All seem to agree that tape is the best. I don’t know if this is also the same consensus the digital crowd shares too. The dig...

Near Field Listneing
I tried listening in the near field I lost a sense of openness and space compared to sitting in the far field — guess I was missing some of those room reflections. I don’t have much by way of room problems, so on balance and in my room I prefer fa...
Dumb break in question...
Meanwhile, back in the real world.... not being connected means you have an open circuit. Getting silly technical as per the norm around here, that means no electrons moving. No current. Not even milliamps. Zero. Zilch. Nada. So the output stage i...

Tekton Moab. Done. Next?
Near Field Listneing
Aside from the obvious reason of space constraints, are there any other reasons where near field listening/speakers would be preferred versus how one usually listens to music?  IOW, with all things being equal, what would make a listener wish ...
Bose 901
Right. Thanks.Good point. Another one he got wrong. As Eric Alexander has shown with his Tekton line its better to take a bunch of tweeters and make them sound like a midrange.
I need advice for power cords
Correct. A man's got to know his limitations.
AR XA Turntable cartridge
Ha! I have a Stanton 681EEE on my Technics SL-1700. Its nothing like the Koetsu on my big rig but its magic on the Technics. Well magic in the sense I dug it out from a box and when I heard this old relic best my Cal Audio CD player it was the sin...
Bose 901
Thanks for the link. Its right in line with what I've been saying! " J. Gordon Holt, founding editor of our high-end sister publication Stereophile, noted in a 1971 commentary that the 901 “produces a more realistic semblance of natural ambience ...
How loud can I listen to my P3esr without damage?
Without damage to what? The speakers? Or your ears??
nad c 658
Depends. Its got one set of RCA pre out, and one set of balanced XLR pre out, and one set of sub out. Do you not understand how these work?
Need input
Yeah. Same here. Its the one additional piece of gear I would buy, and I am damn stingy with my purchases.
