... sound batting and/or weighting speakers ...
To whom it may concern; I mean no disdain in my comments. Here's the deal; I spend a LOT of time around here watching people recommend spending money on upgrades. As if money grows on trees. Sure, big improvements can be had.... if you have big mo...
Why do you guys pursue a flat frequency response when you buy a subwoofer?
tomic601: Miller - flail away Charlie So you choose liar. If the shoe fits, wear it. Just remember it was you who tied the laces.
Will Subwoofer Help?
Yes more subs will be an improvement. But not "by taking full responsibility for the very bottom range." The best way to do it is to continue to run the stereo pair full range, and add subs. That's what I did. https://systems.audiogon.com/systems/...
Setting Anti-Skate on VPI Fatboy Tonearm
I don't have that arm, and can't find good enough pictures to figure it out exactly. What I can see the line comes off the back end of the arm and goes over a pulley, probably to a weight. The only way of adjusting something like this will be to c...
Why do you guys pursue a flat frequency response when you buy a subwoofer?
Contrary to Miller’s myth many sub designers are very aware of Earl Geddes seminal work on multiple subs What myth? Hello! Tomic601! What myth??? Where did I ever say many sub designers are not aware? There’s a function, cut and paste. Please use ...

Setting Anti-Skate on VPI Fatboy Tonearm
You're doing it correctly. You're right. It is an utter joke. Not that it matters....   My Origin Live Conqueror uses a similar fishing line with weight. First I would not be terribly concerned about the test record. Its telling you there's not en...
Does anyone collect something else other than music.
Ahh, craft ales. Yummy. The stuff I collect, it would be a security breach to talk about.
Half the length, or double the quality?
Only deal I can think of that would double the needed length of speaker cable is going from mono blocks to a stereo amp. But that doesn't seem to be the case. So what exactly are you doing?
... sound batting and/or weighting speakers ...
At the very least I guess you can look at this as a learning opportunity. You are right, if the whole speaker cabinet is moving that is dissipating energy you want coming out of the driver. So its robbing you of dynamics. Also if the speaker wasn'...
Furutech vs Audioquest Power Cables

Why do you guys pursue a flat frequency response when you buy a subwoofer?
The minute you put that flat sub in your room and take some measurements, it is anything but flat (it's a rollercoaster with all kinds of peaks/nulls etc, EQ to the rescue).....So, why do you dudes continue to look for the flat line?Good quest...
Doubt about a speaker specs.
Here’s what you need to know about speakers. The most important spec to look for is sensitivity, sometimes called efficiency. Look for speakers rated 90dB/1w/1m or higher, or even better 95 or higher. Why? Because then you can actually find amps t...
Are big subwoofers viable for 2 channel music?
Understand a smoother response from 4 subs before cal puts less stress on the filtering algorithm,No that's missing the point. Equalizing or getting flat response is only part of the problem. Another equally important factor is smooth bass is fast...
Considering a new Phono Pre-Amp
I have the Herron and yes it will be a huge step up. The Herron gets you pretty close to the very best yet at a price that while not cheap is at least within reach of us normal working folk. When you get into this range however its only fair to ma...
