Its the recordings. But if you really want to be certain then get a recording you know this does not happen with and play it. Unless you know one I would get the XLO Test CD. It has a track recorded in an empty room with 1 microphones and Doug Sax...
What have you been working on in 2020?
Swarm was last year for me. You are gonna love it. Way easy to set up- put em near corners, adjust levels, enjoy. I hate selling stuff too but turns out its worth it if you use the proceeds to buy Tekton.
What have you been working on in 2020?
That reminds me! Replaced fuses, Blue to Orange. Took system pics. Built some cable elevator risers to help dress the cables with better spacing. Put fO.q tape, TC and Mats on the drivers in the old Khorus speakers. Forgot about that since they ar...
System Upgrade Input
But then I was also thinking maybe instead sell the amps and pre and get a tube integrated^^This. A Raven Nighthawk will be a huge upgrade in terms of what you seek. https://www.ravenaudio.com/product/nighthawk-mk3-tube-amplifier/ After selling y...
Are the loudness wars fake so record companies can destroy the music?
Psychological evaluation indicated that the subjects felt the sound containing an HFC to be more pleasant than the same sound lacking an HFC. They felt the sound to be more pleasant. This supports records over CD, but says nothing about healing...
Hearing loss and HiFi
Obviously the first thing to do is quantify your hearing loss. Then when you know its say 10% you will know to downgrade your system by 10%. Some may say upgrade 12%, because that is what it takes to correct a 10% loss. But that would lead to spen...

Recording is an art not a science. Someone will probably say this shifting is due to your particular room acoustics, and so you need to hire a consultant and buy a lot of panels and stuff. But if it was the room you would be saying this happens a ...
Should a reference speaker be neutral, or just great sounding?
A reference is anything you refer to. For words we can refer to a dictionary. You could look it up and see, that is literally the meaning of reference. Nothing about neutrality, objectivity, or anything like that. Your reference could be a Picasso...
What have you been working on in 2020?
What have I been working on? Well, let's see....   Sold a bunch of stuff, used the proceeds to buy Tekton Moabs, which I promptly tore apart and tweaked with Mats and Taytrow TDF. Coated all the system AC wire from the panel to the room, and part...
Is the preamp the “heart” of the system?
Out here in the Pacific NW the hydroelectric dam is the heart of the system, pumping out the electrons the whole system runs on.
100v,115v versus 230v
Okay, real answer: safety, economy, and practicality. The safety aspect is its simply much harder to shock yourself with 120, and when you do its no big. The economy aspect, higher voltages require less wire for the same power. This is why transmi...
New vs vintage/original vinyl
The many vinyl stores know of all of the factors that make up a good copy without even placing it on a turntable. The etchings on the inner groove, the label...etc, etc.  Its nowhere near that simple. I have for example two identical copies of Ru...
Why high-end cable manufacturers don't post measurements?
This whole thread is fake and based on a total misrepresentation and false premise. Every speaker cable manufacturer publishes their cable measurements. Otherwise, how would you know if you were buying 8 feet or only 6?
Best divorce album?
Those are songs. The best album is Jackson Browne, I'm Alive.
Tin Foil Hat Audio
Shiny side in or out is a matter of taste. Personally I prefer two-tone with the top of the brim shiny side out and the rest shiny side in. As usual it falls to me to explain the most important factor in tinfoil hats, the pre-crinkling. Scientific...
