Unbelievable 3-D imaging sound
The ability for me to make compensations  based on my room being inadequate, or my hearing inadequacies or my desires to bring a particular instrument or vocal to the front or send it to the back gives me all the pleasures in the world and my...
Millercarbon's Mega Vibration Control Journey
Getting back on track. The springs I've been using lately are just that, springs. Some from eBay, different sizes, are just plain springs. Nobsound are just springs too, only with caps or footers drilled out to hold them in place. Point being they...

Ordinary 1/4" drill bit, springs fit perfect. Only need to go 1/8" deep, as far as the springs are concerned. If you need to go deeper to have them recessed for looks then drill again oversized so the springs don't rub the sides.
How to judge a preamp's sound
Depends. Which wire are we talking about- and in which direction?
Why is black so popular for components?
The reason they’re all black today is retribution for all the years of the ruling patriarchy oppression of white kitchen appliances. So now, you guessed it, black is the new white.
Best way to hook up REL sub with single RCA input to preamp/amp combo?
Whatever way uses the shortest cheapest wires. If the REL has high level inputs use those. Or use the one RCA. Remember when it comes to subs there is no L, there is no R, there is only mono not stereo no matter how many wires you use or how they'...
Looking for more detail in a speaker
The speaker with the most details is the Amati Homage. Beautiful woodworking. The speaker with the least detail is Tekton. Spray painted MDF. Personally I find speaker detail over rated.
Why is black so popular for components?
In fashion they have a saying, adapted here to answer your question:Black is the new chrome.Chrome is the new brushed aluminum.Brushed aluminum is the new wood.
Looking for a vinylesk sounding DAC
That's a pretty good way of describing all the ways vinyl kicks butt on digital. Michael Fremer still holds first place with, "There's more there there" but you did just fine. That's the reality. Vinyl is so far beyond digital MF is even able to r...

What? Apatong looks exactly like the tight grain reddish brown exotic hardwood in my shop, extremely dense but it is only about as hard as aluminum and can still be cut with router or table saw, you just have to be careful to feed slower. Had mine...
Room Treatment Question, lost the lowest bass notes.
That's why I'm looking forward to checking out Mike Lavigne's place this weekend. Some audiophiles are coming up from Portland. First stop my place, then on to Mike's. Kind of like a pub crawl. Heh.   My room for sure has problems. Had a friend ov...
Power Conditioner
Trying to figure out if you know absolutely nothing about capacitors, or know a little but just aren't thinking, or are another one of these guys trying to take a jab at me. Read my post, read kijanki, think about it.
the dreaded breaking of tonearm wire...now what?
Many times I comment on how maybe the problem isn't what anyone said, maybe its a total lack of reading comprehension. Either not comprehending, or maybe not even bothering to read. Case in point. People giving advice to a guy who solved his probl...
Power Conditioner
Unless it has a lot of capacitance, which these do. Simply putting a great big cap on your AC will improve dynamics and bass like you won't believe. The problem is it needs to be carefully designed, or else filling all that will draw so much curre...
Spend my money
Finding such a majority I feel could at least given me some feedback about what components might be worth upgrading first. Won’t get that here. What you will get is a hodge podge of recommendations. You’d do as good to plaster a wall with a random ...
