How to do room acoustics correction the easy way.
If your garage is bare walls then your midrange is being "smeared" by slap echo. Stand near one wall, clap hands, hear the flutter as the echo bounces back and forth. That's slap or flutter echo.  There's a whole range of different things to atten...
Just ordered a vpi avenger
Right. It can take hours, sometimes more than two, to set up a turntable for the first time. Doing this can void your ability to be helplessly dependent on sales and service. Don't fall prey to charlatans trying to sell you on the simplicity of tu...
What Audio Religion have you converted others to successfully?
"Psychotherapists." Freudian slip. Almost too perfect for words.
Power tube operating temperature a good proxy for power output???
Tubes should be equally hot across the amp for even tube wear. If the inside tubes are hot that's too much camber. If the front tubes are hot that's too much roll stiffness, you're pushing, and this can be solved with some combination of springs, ...

is the amp too powerful..and would it hurt or damage my speakers?
Its crucially important they be matched because as everyone knows the amplifier puts out its maximum power the whole time and will quickly burn out the speakers unless carefully matched. Unless that is you got one with a volume control that works....
A vote for amber LED lights on components over blue lights.
Brother. So tacky. Can't believe you guys some times. Blue Tack. Tiny little balls of Blu-Tack. Molds easily to any situation and the right size and shape its darn near invisible and you can tailor to get just the right amount of light that you wa...

Usually a table like that they should box it up and help load it in your car. It probably comes in a couple different boxes and in case more than one guy helps load I would be prepared with a couple bills to avoid the embarrassment of them having ...
Turntable? Arm or cartridge?
Seriously. Can't tell you how refreshing it is for someone to just come right out and admit up front this is all bull. So many of these questions, its obvious they're pure fantasy, but the OP is pretending, and so everyone pretends along. Like lit...
Turntable? Arm or cartridge?
This is just banter so I look forward to your viewsBanter, eh? Motor, platter, arm and bearing are all vastly overrated. Its all cartridge. Spin the record on a pencil with one hand hold the cart in the other and see.
Okay, How Important Is Speaker Break In? (Dynaudio Contour 60i)
Speakers or anything else: if it doesn't sound good right out of the box send it back, it never will. Good gear will sound great right from the beginning, and only get better with time. My Moabs were a perfect example, and a great choice if you wa...
I Was Considering Active, Then I Watched This ...
Next time say up front its the Audiophiliac so I know not to waste my time.
THIS GUY TAKES VINYL TO ANOTHER LEVEL!
Buying my first turntable back in 92 I asked MF about the difference between Basis and VPI. He called and we talked a good 20 minutes. He was an icon even then.
Sorry, it’s not me, it’s you?
Not me. Never in 50 years. Almost everything lasts me many years, and I'm happy with it right up to the day something better arrives. Way it should be if you're doing it right, eh?
Subwoofer placement - does it matter?
Seems it would do the same where ever it is since wavelengths are so big. Yes. This is exactly correct. Moving a sub around merely moves the modes around. They are still there, just different locations. This is why locating one sub is so frustrati...
