Looking for a reel to reel deck that plays NAB and IEC EQ

DSP vs. active analog crossover vs. passive analog crossover. What is your take?
I doubt very much a designer or anyone else could tell whether an analog crossover has been replaced with digital if the digital is programmed to mimic the original analog. we will never agree on that. which is ok.😁 if i play my best 1/2" 15ip...
DSP vs. active analog crossover vs. passive analog crossover. What is your take?
agree. the question is whether it's better with an analog crossover in a particular installation. only the designer can say who has heard it both ways.
DSP vs. active analog crossover vs. passive analog crossover. What is your take?
With my former passive configured all-horn speakers I at one point had 3 processing stages involved: the passive cross-overs in the speakers as an analogue "processing" stage, the Xilica DSP to high-pass them, and JRiver Convolution hosting a sof...
DSP vs. active analog crossover vs. passive analog crossover. What is your take?
no simple answer to this question. the crossover should compliment the media, and the degree of room acoustical work that has been done. dsp fixes room<->speaker integration issues. but it’s not the only way to do that. at lower price point...
Vinyl, CD's and Digital Files Accumulated Over A Lifetime
3000 CD's, 800 SACD's, 12,000 records, 250 master dub RTR albums (most 2 reel). 18tb of music files; (50% 16/44, 50% higher rez). streaming with 'infinity' amount of files..... still adding vinyl and files. but not more silver discs. i don't th...
Inner 1/3 of All Records Deep Obtrusive Rumble
the only thing different about the inner third of the record is cartridge alignment accuracy becomes more critical, and possibly your tone arm, or arm bearing, has some mechanical interference or roughness over that part of the arc of travel. you...
Have you ever solved a high end audio issue using non-audio technology? Or, visa versa?
active isolation is used in laboratories to reduce ground noise and resonance from corrupting the performance of electron microscopes for various purposes. i have applied it to my hifi system and use 5 active isolation devices. https://www.herzan...
Preferences and system dependent
@ricred1  you are right, i jumped to improper conclusions....focused on the Odin and not your question. my bad.
Preferences and system dependent
looking briefly at your system for context, you might consider that all solid state signal path + Chord Dave + Nordost Odin might not equal musical balance. then there is your room which we cannot speculate about as we don’t know much. how effect...
After the thrill is gone
agree on the room being the hard part with dynamic cones and boxes. cones and boxes can have all their advantages as far as authentic full range, complete top to bottom seamlessness and cohesion, and without non musical characteristics. horns and...
Best Sound Track Ever Vote for One
"Last of the Mohicans" track 6 "Promentory" is epic. play it as warp 9. and if you have not watched the mountain chase scene accompanying that sound track it is awesome too....never fails to grab me. the movie version of this cut is longer and i ...
MM, MC, or MI cartridge
look at it this way; almost 100% of the design efforts in the last 15-20 years have been advancing moving coils. why? they have some substantial advantages in performance. and phono preamps have got much quieter too, allowing for optimization of l...
Mono block Preamp
Lamm LL1 Signature is a true mono block preamp. completely separate left and right dual chassis. no remote volume control. https://positive-feedback.com/reviews/hardware-reviews/lamm-ll1-1-signature-dual-mono-preamplifier/ Gryphon Commander like...
How Audiphiles are Different
My intended point was only that we all experience sound differently, so it should be expected that audiophiles would all appreciate different systems/sounds and poor acoustics might be more critical for some than others. i think with experience...
