New Turntable Direction
+1 for a refirbed Garrard 301/401. Ever since I heard that late legendary record company owner/producer Winston Ma used his 301 as the source for one of his great Gold Label CDs, I have been searching for a good rebuilt 301. Finally found a great ...
Seas Excel Diamond tweeter or Plasma?
Thanks for the post. I actually already own my designer’s former top line speaker (Tetra 606) that has the Mundorf dipole AMT in a rear horn configuration. For sure they disappear and create exceptional “sound”. We are hoping to make something tha...
Is Wife Acceptance Factor (WAF) sexist?
Sorry I brought it up...
Newbie to the awesome audiophile world
Those B&W speakers are nice if you like. But buy used speakers.I would get a Rega Brio integrated. Very well built and good sounding British quality. And then you will have a nice phono stage for MM cartridge and a remote. I would get a Rega R...

Phono Preamp. With transformer or fully active
Hi Jeff,I can’t answer your question directly but have decided on a Zesto Andros Deluxe that uses 4 internal step up transformers for the MC stage. I don’t yet have my Zesto but have well heard the original Andros at RMAF. It uses two transformers...

Record Cleaning Machines
I have ordered a Keith Monks RCM. It may be the only machine that thoroughly removes most dirty fluid. I am convinced it is the current state of the art.
Who says cables don't make a difference?
There are none so blind as those who will not see/hear.
Putting weights on speakers?
Up date,I took 20 lbs off each speaker leaving 33 lbs on each. The bass is more complex and still tightened. Works better with less weight. The extra 20 lbs deadened the bass too much!
Who says cables don't make a difference?
“Continue to beat the drum... why?” To paraphrase. It is, obviously, a controversy. The prejudice surely goes both ways. However, those who are opposed to expensive cables ignore the fact that cables are an established part of our Industry. A dire...
Who says cables don't make a difference?
@kennycThank you for coming back to the subject of the OP.And, especially, for your clear enumeration of the factors that must be considered in cable design. Certainly each different type of component always has distinct and important factors that...
Record Cleaning Machines
It has been pointed out that the Keith Monk RCM is used by Better-Records and no one can question the cleanliness of their records.Their current model similar to the Better-Records one is $3750.It is not ultrasonic but must be good. Anyone know ho...
Who says cables don't make a difference?
If my fault that my OP comments about company owners and others who made/make their living on being able to hear differences between components helped to devolve this otherwise civil Forum discussion into personal mud slinging, I am sorry.Surely m...
Who says cables don't make a difference?
It seems the crux of the cable issue stems from the comparisons of the likes of zip lamp chord and high fidelity cable. If zip chord works why spend a lot of money on “snake oil”?!And why not just get some silver wire and RCAs and build your own I...
