Integrated Amp Vs. Outboard DAC
I also believe an external DAC is the way to go. What digital source(s), other than the TV, will you use? This is important when considering your input need for the DAC. I believe there are several integrated amplifiers that will serve your 10.1s ...
Importance of input tubes to sound quality?
Simao, based on your original post I also was hoping to get more feedback on the relative benefits of rolling driver vs. output tubes, such as that provided by brf.  Good thread!  I use a tube all pre with a SS amp. While I realize the pre has dri...
Building a system from scratch (other than speakers)
It sounds to me that when you have time to listen you want to make it a more involving session, isolating music from video. You have been given good advice so far. I also believe given your budget that an integrated amplifier is the way to go. How...
Would you be more likely to buy new gear out of state if there was no sales tax
Amazon collects sales taxes form Illinois purchasers.
if you had my system and $2,000 budgeted for an upgrade, where would you spend it?
You mentioned that you are considering DIY room treatments. Look up ATS Acoustics, They have a great line of products for the DIY’er.
Vinyl noob needs help with cartridge
+1 Swamp. Given that you are just starting out and own an AI pre (which one?) stick to a MM cartridge. Many choices out there.
Any suggestion on DAC below $1,500
What system?
Tube Integrated Amp - Help Please
Yes, Jolida MD is the real deal. I own the Jolida Fusion pre. Have yet to get the MD mods, however looking forward to doing so.

Cleeds, I agree it is not necessary. However my Square D service panel in the home I built has the input posts exposed such that it would be possible to contact one when swapping around several breakers. Now, i don’t know what it would cost to rem...

I bought a home for my kids to live in while going to college. Built in 1923, it had a new box installed, actually 2 boxes. One outside box that carried a mains breaker which fed a interior box for the home. Never seen this before. If wanting to w...
In a lot of these threads people say without the room being treated
I have a small (~12 x 15 ft.) dedicated audio room. I also made my own treatments. Treat corners, 1st reflections and behind listening position. I agree that it is easy to over treat, however my approach was to over treat then back off as a way to...
Any suggestion on DAC below $1,500
I believe the Bryston BDA-1 to be an excellent choice in the <$1000 price range used. Many inputs, balanced/unbalanced outs. For USB use a USB/SPDIF converter. Many BDA-1s and converters  for sale on AG.
Schitt Bifrost VS PS Audio Digital Link 3
I like Willies’ suggestion. The V-Link would also make an improvement over the PS DL3s’ USB interface. I have not heard the Schiit and could not have made his comparison. I have a V-link II USB/SPDIF converter which I use in a 2nd system. It is on...
Schitt Bifrost VS PS Audio Digital Link 3
The weak link (no pun) on the DL III is the usb input, it is not asynchronus. I believe this is why so many are for sale.  It is however a very good DAC, having a robust power supply and analog output stage. I have owned one and used it with a USB...
Need small size speakers for fireplace.
Joejoe, as 213runnin mentioned, given my placement constraint, I will likely be diminishing the sonic value of any speaker I choose. This I new going in. Further consideration of this has driven my decision to reduce my budget to those speakers th...
