8-16 ohm budget speakers rsfphil, Thanks for the Tekton rec. I looked Tekton up and now have the Mini Lore Monitor's on my short list. Imagine them to be hard to find on the used market. I plan on giving them a call tomorrow.

help a Die hard ANALOG guy choose a budget CDP When I read your post I thought of the Marantz SA-8005. Hifiman beat me to it. I have heard it however don't own one. Would if I was looking for a CDP in your budget for the reasons stated by hifiman. Has a smooth warm sound yet detailed enough fo...
8-16 ohm budget speakers I am still looking for speakers compatible with my ST-70 and budget. Never thought that this would prove to be such a daunting task. Most speakers listed as 8 ohms fall to 4 ohms or below somewhere across frequency range. In addition sensitivity r...
Please Buy These Speakers! Glad this worked out for you. Also proved to be a great find for the Asian gentleman.
Any experience with the Infinity Primus P363? After doing a google search it seems that this speaker may be a 4 ohm speaker, at least based on the measurements by one reviewer. I am looking for a speaker that doesn't drop below 6 ohms across freq range. I will research further.
Pros & Cons of Buying an Integrated with Built-in DAC? I looked this integrated up. I like the clean looks and simple design. The 'less is more' approach. Now to find a dealer located such that when I travel I might hear one. Currently I own a Jolida Fusion pre, driving a BEL 1001 MK V. I went from ...
Marantz and Stereophile? I recall seeing in print that the Marantz PM5003, 4, 5 were made in China. The PM6000,7000, and 8000 series made in Japan.
Pros & Cons of Buying an Integrated with Built-in DAC? Congrats! I am not familiar with this integrated. Will look it up.
Recommnedations for moderately price balanced IC's, and adaptors to an RCA end Forgot to mention: If I had to pay AL for the knowledge gained from him via this forum I would be broke!
Recommnedations for moderately price balanced IC's, and adaptors to an RCA end Jim, sorry, I won't bring up the subject of a line level/separate phonostage idea again. If only the RP-1 had XLR outs. In your shoes I think I would continue looking for a used BAT 31 or 31SE with the recognition that my budget my have to be inc...
Best amplifier and preamp for klipsch heresy 3 A friend of mine has a set of older Heresy's (mid 80s). Though the IIIs are somewhat better, they are very similar to the originals as I understand. We have driven his version to loudness levels beyond what was comfortable with an NAD 326BEE. That...
Best pre-amp of the three: Copland CT-305, BATVK-31SE. or PS Audio's PCA-2 ?? Jim, Yea, looking for a pre having the required XLR ins and outs, phonostage and headphone application really narrows the field. Now, finding one that compliments your new amp...Anyway, as I mentioned in your other thread use your Sphinx as a temp...
Turntable Advice Sounds like you found a great deal. I was about to caution you on the Bluepoint, it has low output (2.5mV) for many MM phonostages. Not that it would have been too low, just that preamp volume would have to be adjusted much higher than for other i...
Pros & Cons of Buying an Integrated with Built-in DAC? I also think that there are many older DACs (5-7 years old, possibly older) that could serve well in todays system. For computer audio most would require a USB/SPDIF converter, however this also is no problem as many good ones are available on the... |
