Azimuth adjustment on VPI Scoutmaster
A few suggestions from my own experience.  Yes, with the Lemo in place.  I find the Soundsmith Counter-Intuitive device to be very useful for making small changes in VTF and azimuth with minimal change in the other.  I use an AT cartridge.  I find...
DAC upgrade
Tube DACs aside, IMO the best values in quality DACs are those available by direct import from Asia.  If you're interested you need to take time to do a lot of research on many forums as well as this one.  The information is out there.
Difference between ESS Sabre Burr Brown Wolfson DACs
I agree with mahler123.   Judge the entire implementation, not just the chip. For example, the ESS chips are produced in great quantity and are therefore less expensive than some others.  Its basic technology is used in DACs costing $100 and others...
Does a ripped cd onto a digital format sound better than the cd played on the cdp
@cleedsThen how is it that some "digital" cables sound better than others?  Or do you deny that?
Does a ripped cd onto a digital format sound better than the cd played on the cdp
@cleedsYes, in the wires they are analog signals intended to look like square waves.  You may call that a digital signal if you like but they are subject to all the problems of transmitting analog signals.  That is why, for example, some "digital"...

@cleads "If a digital signal is not comprised of "ones and zeros," then what is it? Are you saying the data is analog even before the signal enters the DAC?"Yes, that's exactly it.  It's counter intuitive.  For an explanation see: https://www.yout...
So I have a DAC; now what Player should I look at?
IIRC the Bluesound Node 2 has a built-in DAC. Why should the OP pay for another DAC?
Pheonix Engineering Road Runner
@cleeds,I've gone a similar route to you, with an original TNT and multi-upgrades over the years.  But I would never give up the lead/acrylic platter. The PE Eagle is at least the equivalent of the SDS and, in fact, measures better and is somewhat ...

@lewm The inertia of a 20 pound platter smooths out the feed back effects. They sound better with the various controllers because they depend for speed upon the 50 or 60Hz cycle from the electric company. That cycle can now be made more precise wit...

@pbnaudio You may like DD turntables. Many people do, and they certainly have their conveniences. My own opinion is that for a DD turntable to provide the same quality sound as a good belt-drive TT it has to be very expensive. Like the forthcoming...

IMO a Roadrunner type device alone is a non-starter.  If you keep it visible it will drive you nuts.  For if you have a belt drive you will probably see it vary over time especially as the bearing warms up.  Either it will give you agita over diff...
Why does my DAC sound so much better after upgrading digital SPDIF cable?
@ mzkmxcv You wrote, "I have seen measurements showing jitter in Toslink, but they were showing >100kHz and even in the MHz range, so it has no influence on music."IMO this reveals that you don''t understand the influence of jitter, to wit, w...
Why does my DAC sound so much better after upgrading digital SPDIF cable?
@mzkmxcvSome people have better hearing than others.  They hear differences that others don't.Some people have better equipment than others.   And by better I do not necessarily mean more expensive.   That equipment reveals differences that less...
