Kimber Kable:Spker Cable: Which offers best sound? The 4tc, 8tc and 12tc are the same cables, just with more strands. The difference is sound is more noticeable in the bottom end. They offer decent value for money but are easily beatable is you spend a little more.
Spendors comparable to Harbeth C7ES3? Check out the classic series on Spendor's web site. These are the same - thin walled designs as Harbeth. The A series are more conventional designs. I own both Spendor (S3/5r2) and Harbeth (C7es3).Generally, you will find the same great mid-range ...
Source vs. DAC vs. Preamp Importance? The CDP and pre-amp are arguably the most important components.Passive pre-amps in CDPs don't tend to be very good in comparison to a good pre-amp.I suppose I'd look for a good CDP and use the Marantz for now. You can go 2 channel direct mode to t...
integrated shootout - Audio Refi, SimAudio or Edge All of your suggestions will be a significant downgrade in sound quality. For fun, try using another 2 channels of your multi 5 to biamp your speakers. Then you won't feel like you are wasting anything, and you will likely get a nice little improv...
DAC = thin sound Could be a number of things. Not sure what you are using as a reference.Maybe you are just not used to the extra detail. The DAC needs to break in.In my experience DACs are extremely sensitive to cabling. A good quality USB cable makes a big differ...
Is this dangerous ? You can try it and see what happens. I would certainly never do that. And I'm assuming you have jumpers between the 2 sets of speaker jacks.Wouldn't the signal feedback through the second set of cables?
dacs as preamps ? Generally using a dac as a pre-amp is not a great idea. Using a separate pre-amp will sound much better. Wyred4Sound DAC2 would has a built in volume control, as does the original Eastern Electric Minimax DAC.
Audience Au24e vs Cardas Golden Reference I couldn't imagine a more extreme difference in sound. Audience will bring out the top end detail and air, while the bottom end and lower midrange will tighten up considerably. Switching from Cardas to Audience is a complete tonal shift. I made th...
Agood dac for my devore nines and leben system. You might look at the Wyred 4 Sound DAC 2 and the Calyx USB. Both are excellent.
iMac in a home Hi-Fi system. Apple lossless or Aiff are the best quality. Either one is fine. You will need an external DAC using toslink(optical) via the headphone out jack on the mac. Then a set of RCA's from the DAC to any free inputs on the pre-amp.Under 'sounds' select th...
rega osiris vs simaudio600i or? The Sim is very nice. The Rega is way overpriced for what it is.
Coax or USB between transport and DAC? I doubt your Pioneer transport can do USB? USB is only for computer sources and works very well or very poorly depending on the design of the DAC. Coax or toslink is what you'd be considering. Either can work very well.
Why does better power = better sound? If you accept that better quality components (power supplies, caps etc.) lead to better resolution, imaging etc., it is fair to accept that choking or polluting the power required to operate the equipment will diminish the potential. Providing cle...
Nordost Tyr vs Audience Au24e If you are used to Cardas you will be initially shocked by the difference moving to either Nordost or Audience. In my set up I tried Nordost ICs and found them harsh (hemdall I think). Went to an all Audience Au24e set up (speaker, power and IC) a... |
