Need help from smart people - biamping You will be passive bi-amping, which means the signal will still use the speakers internal crossover. No issues with impedance or loudness.Unless you need the extra power, I doubt you will hear much of difference sound wise, but give it a shot, yo...
Just wanted to share my joy, and ask two questions You are better off buying spike shoes - it will do a better job of decoupling the stands from the floor than felt pads will. There is a plug on the back of the Arros that allow you to sand fill the bottom part of the column. Clean play sand or unsc...
Upgrading recommendations You might look at some of the British integrated amps. Exposure 2010s2, Naim 5i, Creek 5350 are a few good ones. It will depend on your preferences, but any of these will be a big step up from the Rotel. The Simaudio Moon i1/250 is also a very goo...
Upgrading recommendations Agree the phono stage could use some attention. However I suspect the Rotel with MA Speakers would be pretty lean/bright. Personally I'd reconsider the Rotel, than maybe explore phono pre's to best match that setup.Think an amp change would make th...
Cables for Harbeth-Luxman match? IF you have ever A/B tested harbeths with Kubala or Cardas vs. Audience 24's, you'd know what I mean.
Cables for Harbeth-Luxman match? Not sure what you don't like about what you have? I own C7's being driven by SET 845 tubes. Tried a number of cables - Kubala Sosna, Audience, Cardas, Kimber, Audience, AZ. Finally settled on Auditorum 23 interconnects and speaker cables. Works ve...
Where's the trade off? Agree the Rogue would not be my first choice for a tube like sound. It's also not priced that much above the NAD stuff, so may not be a huge improvement. KT88 tubes are the least tube like as well.Best I can offer is with SET EL34 or 845 output tu...
bass suggestions 12 x 16 room.... My room is 13x15. I stick to sealed box or front ported speakers. Could never get the bottom end under control with anything rear ported. And my room is well damped. Don't have the luxury of putting the speakers 4 feet from the back wall.
Where's the trade off? I'll take the opposite point of view. I use C7's with a Mastersound compact 845 tube integrated. while it takes the tubes a few minutes to warm up, so do solid state amps.I brought an LFD mkIV home to try and didn't like it. Sounds pretty much lik...
Dedicated AC Power Line vs. Power Conditioner? Having done so, and putting a good quality AC outlet on the dedicated line it made a large difference. One of the biggest differences I've experienced vs. a moderate power conditioner.
the best 'tubey amp - warm, smooth, liquid' ? You might look at 300B based amps. They tend to be the most 'tubey' sounding.Mastersound make wonderful sounding tube amps - very unlike the US made amps, which don't have that tube magic. Of course the brand of tubes themselves make a big differe...
I-Mac for computer audio? I've been using an i-mac for a few years as both my desktop computer and music source. Very happy. Using Apple TV to stream to my big rig in another room.
Kubala Sosna Cables - Reality Check I was using KS Fascinations with tubes and Harbeths. Found them to be a 'warm' cable also - similar to Cardas.
Cable to emphasize midrange in Totem If you are looking to spend a the Kimber 8tc price point, used Cardas Neutral Reference is likely your best choice. The lower models can sound muddy/thick. As you move up the line things get better, but very pricey.Any decent solid core copper jum...
Cable to emphasize midrange in Totem Cardas neutral reference would likely work well. I'd avoid bi-wiring though, makes no difference and costs more.Kubala Sosna Fascination would also be a good choice. |
