Here’s my $1750…just tell me what to buy..
As a Doc my self (not a surgeon) I am kinda surprised that an orthopedic surgeon wouldn't have more money than that to spend on an HT amp. Given his/her predictable income then whatever costs a lot in HT (I don't follow HT so don't know) is what y...
Tube Amps from China
I have said it before that tubes and Maggies may not be ideal, and was drowned out by blind enthusiasm. I still think it a less than ideal choice. Use high current SS IMO, if not I still love my Oper Consonance Cyber 800 Mono blocks but closer to ...
Sonic Diff between a 6' 1.8M & 4' 1.25M PC
If you can use the shorter power cable then do it and see if it really matters to you, not some self proclaimed expert. I have seen shorter ones than that and I can't tell you they had any negative impact on the sound, but maybe I am not as expert...

If you live near or close to a true store, then just ask them, they will be more than happy to sell you what they like. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of stereo stores but since you want home theater that should be no problem.
Classic rock vocal-only remakes
For some reason I find the possibility of a bunch of studio single tracks to be remote. I hope not because it would make for some very interesting listening. You did ask the right question are they out there in some new release?
using a jumper cable - connect which set of post?
My speaker manufacturer did express a preference for connection, but I couldn't hear any significant differences. I also opted for the lower posts as a matter of better cable ergonomics.
What do audiophiles listen in their cars?
I subscibe to the school of "road noise makes serious audio impossible." That doesn't mean I don't use the audio in my car also a 99 Volvo (didn't know it had a Nakamichi sound system not sure this one does). I listen to the CD player and FM radio...
Adcom 5503 not producing Bass
If you want warm I agree with the Conrad Johnson amp suggestion. I can't think of anything that is nearly as warm as most of their gear. There are some "fixes" for warmth like cables and such but the cost is higher than you would want to spend.
Recommendations for good Class A SS Amp 100-200W
Pass makes some very highly lauded Class A amps.I have also heard Plinius amps they had slam as well. Slam is different than the deep bass you get from a sub.I am not sure we need to second guess you. I always seem to like class A sound myself, go...
How long untill I can really Flog them Hard
I agree with Chayro to some extent, but also have to ask how loud is loud? You can get a Db meter at Radio Shack on the cheap side which will give you a way to measure the strength of the signal at your listening position. At 100Db your getting a ...
Bi-Amping
They may not be described as bi-ampable but all the speakers that have two sets of binding posts, one set for mids/treble and another set for bass are bi-ampable. There are many many speakers with this style of binding post, most have a jumper stra...
What city do you live in?
I agree with joining your local or reasonably close audio group. I belonged to the Philadelphia area group, and heard many good systems.
Where to start upgrade
Although impractible and overly expensive you will likely change both your "receiver and your speakers. If you can audition either of the speakers you are considering or their amplification I would do that . What do you want? Are you looking for a...
How much would you sell B&K 200.7
The basic rule of thumb for used equipment is to price it around %50 of the original retail price. Since you know that you spent $1200 to $1500 you could ask about $700 and see if you get a buyer. If you think it is worth more to start negotiation...
Are those B65 versions of the 6NS7 tube worth it?
They are so rare in fact that I think there are very few who can even tell you what a B65 sounds like. There are a few Made in Great Britain 6SN7 equivalents which are called B65s but are not the Marconi Osram product. I have some of those like th...
