Cowboy Junkies Live this evening...streaming for free! Wow, Margo goes gray. Still love her, however.
ProAc comparison I had the Studio 140's for quiet a while, but replaced them with D15's. My experience is that they were way better on the mid bass and especially good with well recorded music featuring vocals and acoustic instruments. Still a little congested wit...
moody soundtracks Not sure if it qualifies as moody but it does have a consistent vibe:Hell or High Water Soundtrack
Albums you can listen too all the way through and it's all good Norah Jones - Little Willies John Hiatt - Master of Disaster (I will admit skipping the opening song sometimes - otherwise a great listen)AK and RP - Raising SandWalk the Line soundtrack
yba integrated I've run a YBA Passion integrated for almost 8 years now. Before that i ran AR separates . High quality sound, unique features and very solid build. If I was in the market for a second system I would jump all over some of the YBA amps, preamps and...
First "audiophile" system, now what? Suggestions for best "bang for the buck" upgrade? Install a dedicated line before anything else. Not expensive and you could even DIY - I did.
Proac One SC - Do thet perform well at low volume? My experience - low volume SQ is heavily dependent on the amps ability to provide a healthy enough signal that the speaker can put out a refined bass without the need for enormous power. Interestingly given your ProAc question is that I run a YBA ...
All the Roadrunning by Mark Knopfler and Emmy Lou If you like the cd, by all means pick up the DVD of the concert - Real live Roadrunning. Sound is good, great production values and the band really, really smokes it on a few of the cuts. Emmylou does the most haunting version of Red Dirt Girl I h...
Thoughts on balanced power I run balanced power via a Blue Circle MR800 for all components except amp. Nice improvement and has been very reliable for many years. After much research it seemed few if any conditioners in my price range were designed for amps.
Marantz SA 11s2 owner here. good to see some discussion of how to make the unit sound better. I will be trying the main fuse replacement shortly. One reminder - check your filter setting. Mine was somehow set to three, probably for a long time. I went bac...
Marantz Hi, you will need to get a fine flat head screwdriver and pry the top back (the top is also the sides). Looking down at the top, there is a lip at the front where the top butts up against the front face. Put some cheesecloth or other material arou...
What vintage speaker might you use today Interesting thread. I'm in the ADS camp, still running my original L710's in the sunroom area. Also have a pair of L520's (used $100 for the pair) upstairs providing sound to my TV set-up. I was surprised how good they were for dialogue. Also just...
looking for a recording with nice wide soundstage Funny, I just picked up the Buddy miller cd noted above from the library. I have always liked River's Going To Run but forgot about most of the other cuts, As Rpeluso says, when you are questioning your system pull out a few well recorded discs to...
Anyone hear the new YBA gear? Glad to hear you there is a US distributor as I am a long time YBA fan. Currently run a Passion integrated, might consider a streaming option in the future.
ADS 910 vintage speakers No experience with 910's, but have owned 810's and still have 710's. Great sound from ADS, if price is right go for it. You can always sell them if you do not like them - there is a nice market for vintage ADS. |
