What is the future for Proac Speakers ? I guess the sound would be akin to a sweet mid range, with great clarity on the top end. Bass is exceptional if acoustic bass is used - otherwise a little congested with rock oriented electric bass. Not the best rock speaker, but excellent for Ame...
What is the future for Proac Speakers ? I have owned a few models and still have D-15's. After visiting Axpona, the 15's give up nothing to any competitors in terms of imaging, detail or sweetness. They do give up scale and soundstage to the best of them but the best are huge and very e...
Integrated Amp with Separate Volume Controls Most YBA pre amps have dual volume controls, not sure of any integrateds. Great components that come up periodically on Audiogon and Canuck Audio mart.
Outdoor Speakers I run Niles OS 20's - not even sure if they make them anymore but they have a nice bass response for their size and have been indestructible.
Isolation disc for speaker spikes on wood floors. Palasr - intrigued by the viablue spikes. Wonder how well they would work over Herbie's gliders, which I am happy with mostly due to their maneuverability. Good looking spikes - any further comments, tips, etc on their application/installation?
To Couple or Decouple? I second the Herbies gliders, if only to make moving/positioning the speakers very easy. Much disagreement about whether to couple/decouple. My experience is that unless you play at very high db's it might not matter. YMMV
Help with compression and dynamic range Hello youngster, re concert DVD/Blu-rays most recent ones have better specs than cd's and sound very good. I do not think the specs are printed on the jackets, etc but your player / TV should display the specs if there is a menu choice for it. Wha...
Norah Jones Agreed, excellent SQ and great music/songs/vocals. My bet this one is a surprise hit if it can get some mainstream airplay.
Norah Jones I also have been enjoying this one, only on cd. I would argue it's more a country vibe, but agree the SQ is very, very good. Great songs also. If this gets any airplay it could be a big surprise hit.
Norah Jones Her country cd "Little Willies" is a go-to in my house. Great songs and musicianship and I am not a big country fan. She really knows how to pick a song. Second Little Willies cd is not nearly as good. Agree on her versatility - anyone see her sin...
Harmonic Resolution Damping Plates I had a large plate on top of my YBA Passion integrated for over a year. I happened to remove it one day and realized I now had slightly better high frequency response - the damping was too much for my amp, apparently. Everything is system depende...
Fav. recordings that fell flat in a hi-end system I really enjoy Arcade Fire - seen them a few times on DVD/Cable TV, etc but never live (i'm probably too old). Remind me a lot of the Talking Heads in their hey day. Their CD's, however, are totally unlistenable on my system - way too much compres...
Speaker cables comparison chart:: Much Needed Try to find a pair of used Zu Libtecs on A'gon or Ebay. Lots of value for the money. I found them to work wonderfully with my ProAc's. If you don't like them you can usually resell for very minimal loss, if any.
Outdoor Speakers: Paintable I have a pair of Niles OS 20's outdoors. Nice sound as long as the source material is more focused on the mid range and does not have a lot of treble. They came with an extra special grille that covers the drivers and allows you to paint the speak...
Outdoor opinions? I run Niles outdoor speakers - OS20's. There may be a newer version but I am happy with their performance. The interesting thing about them is that the better the source material the better they sound - even outside. |
