Cowboys Junkies: playing live in my area Saw them in Chicago a few weeks ago. Very nice show that included a few covers - Stones, N Young and R Johnson. Folks tape the shows and post online. I downloaded the Chicago show and found it very well done. Must be played at a level that mirrors...
High Quality Fuses: Real Gains? I put a HiFi Tuning fuse in my YBA Passion integrated and found the sound had a little more "bite', most notably on Alison Krauss's violin.
Favorite Music DVD? Yes on the Live in Dublin DVD, forgot that one - incredible, over the top horn section. If you buy the Real Live Roadrunning CD it comes with a DVD. Nice package I wish there were more of from bands we may not get to see live in person. One more g...

Marantz SA-7 HIFI Tuning Fuses I would be interested in opinions on fuse replacements in the SA-11S1 also. I replaced my amp fuse with a Hifi Tuning fuse and got a nice improvement in "bite".
Best SACD's I have a contrary opinion of at least one Elton John. I find Madman far from a quality SACD. Compared to the 100 or so quality pop/rock/country/jazz SACD's I have Madman sounds mushy, dark and without much depth. It just doesn't jump out at me as ...
Cowboy Junkies I love both Trinity's, Revisited has a more modern sound, imho. The White's Off Earth now SACD has a riviting sound, esp on Crossroads and Please Don't Go. Very dark, brooding. Margo is a beauty and sings like an angel.
Emmylou Harris - All I Intended to be - Love this Check out the DVD of the Real Live Roadrunning tour to see her perform some great songs, including Red Dirt Girl and Born to Run. She is a true beauty and sings like an angel.
ADS 710 speakers /Sound quality and specs? I have a pair of 710's. I would characterize them as not as resolving and detailed as modern speakers (I also have ProAc D-15's)of similar quality, but they do have that musicality that makes them very listenable. They are 4 ohm, so they need a po...
whats the finest recorded cd you've heard? Dreadhead, hard to tell anymore without balance controls!
whats the finest recorded cd you've heard? Here is the link to the one I purchased: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200320449_200320449
whats the finest recorded cd you've heard? Jax2, buy the FatMax, you'll use it for regular home projects also. The book is very good, although one will argue the it is simply the combined wisdom of this and other forums. I like the glossary - now I know what all these audiophile words mean...
whats the finest recorded cd you've heard? Agree that Amused is a novelty, but the dog barking way outside the speakers does confirm, IMHO, proper speaker placement. I used a Stanley FatMax ($80 or so)for measuring. My method was based on that in Jim Smith's Get Better Sound - establish a ...
whats the finest recorded cd you've heard? Dreadhead, play around with speaker positioning a little more. The dog should be more like 50 feet to the left (right on my set up) of the speaker. I only discovered this after buying a laser measuring tool and getting my speakers precisely placed...
Weird Speaker Placement Configurations I am forced into a diagonal placement and am pleased with the result. For a while I fretted over all the talk of reflections, standing waves etc but as I became more educated on the topic realized I had none of these issues - or at least they were... |
