questions for georgehifi and others about powering my Wilson Sasha2s
I had an ARC Ref 6 but moved to a Boulder 2110 preamp. It wasn’t close. The Boulder is in a totally different league. Even the 1110. The ARC is good, but I felt like it didn’t have the resolution that the Wilson are capable of. Btw, I am using a d...

Bass from my Boulder 1160 to the Alexia 2 is prolific.
Replacement for 802 D3s
I went from 802 D3s to Wilson Alexia 2s. Will never look back. So much better in every way. You can find them used for a great price.

More like the power cables were 20k. Was this ListenUp? I remember them having a similar room. You can get very close to that sound for 20k for sure. Keep in mind the room matters as much as anything else.
Acoustic treatment question: do you agree with Dennis Foley that $46k to $65k is required?
Dennis is a snake oil salesman. Go watch videos of professional studio tours and you’ll see nothing close to that. In fact, one I just saw yesterday they even joked about the fact that the acoustics company proposed a budget that was literally the...

I guess I'm just not sure how you're allocating budget with the 830 monoblocks. They're like $8k, right? If you are spending that much on amps, and $5k on speakers, spending like $2000 or so on a good DAC seems like a logical next step, unless you...

What are your speakers? It seems like you spent a lot on amps and preamp. Your amp implies you definitely will get a much better sound with upgrading your streaming/DAC solution.
McIntosh 830
Is the Node 2i your DAC or the 8900? Either way, I think you are doing a disservice to the amps and preamp (yes, the C2700 would be better) by not getting a better DAC/Streamer.
Pass INT-250 for B&W 800's
Fwiw, I never found my 802d3 to be very strong in bass, despite trying many different high end electronics.
Speaker upgrade for classical music
Harbeth for sure. Avoid any suggestions for ribbon or unusual tweeters (like Tekton). You’ll want super smooth treble. The M40.2 are the best I’ve heard in this price range, and I play in an orchestra.

When you speak of emotion in Mozart, it cannot be measured by 19th century standards. He was, to me, the most “human” of all composers.*eye roll* I get it, you like Mozart. Whatever. Calling him the most "human" is like calling the number 5 the mo...

@edcyn sorry, not for me. Nothing Mozart ever wrote, to me, rivaled the finale of Mahler 2. There are videos of the end nearly bringing Bernstein to tears conducting it. Not so with Mozart. Or how about Mahler 5, mvt 4 - probably the most beautifu...

@twoleftears that’s fair about 4. I do like it. But I also love Tchaikovsky 4. The whole thing is a bit contrived. Mahler makes it unfair for works like Sibelius 2, Rachmaninov 2, Brahms 1, Shostakovich 5 (and 7), etc. and then of course why stop ...

‘Very few bettered Mozart. ‘Um, not to me. Mozart symphonies are a snooze. His operas slightly better. I would think most boring classical music listeners would contend Beethoven perfected the symphony. Regardless, I find them boring, especially t...
