Auralex SubDude
Interesting. I need to do more listening. I think I might experiment by putting some weight on top of the sub to damp the movement a little. I've heard people putting bags of lead shot on top of subs. On the subject of monitors, has anyone tried t...
Auralex SubDude
I just wanted to bump this thread. I got a Subdude today and stuck it under my Linn Akurate 221 subwoofer. The improvement is immediate and obvious. For the price, everyone with a subwoofer should give it a try. Best $50 I ever spent on audio. I'm...
Bookshelf speaker with electrostatic sound
Another thought, if you are really lucky, you might find a pair of Soundsmith Dragonfly monitors with the optional ribbon tweeter upgrade. I've never heard them, but the reviews are exceptional. There was a pair on A'gon last week for $775 without...
dacs as preamps ?
I was discussing this in another recent thread regarding the Wadia 121 I just got. Here's a long excerpt:There were some comments in another thread that using a dedicated preamp is preferable because digital volume controls degrade the sound, espe...
Car Audio Speakers
I always wanted to hear the system that Linn used to do for Aston-Martin. Has anyone heard it? They use B&O for their premium system now.
Bookshelf speaker with electrostatic sound
You might be able to find a pair of Linn Majik 109's for under a grand. They are designed to work well on a bookshelf and have a very smooth and ope sound. Check the reviews.
Weak link
I just looked at the diagram and read the manual. It appears that the 2 purple RCA jacks are intended only for subwoofers (2 of them). Surprisingly, there do not seem to be any pre-outs with a volume control. I would think it would be preferable t...

Why are you wiring the amp that way?
'they blew'em off the stage'
In the late 80's/early 90's, Fishbone played with tons of bands and blew them ALL off the stage. Incredible musicianship and ridiculous energy.
"ANTI-CABLE" SPEAKER CABLE vs Audio Arts SC5?
Be advised (in case you don't know) that Anti-Cables are basically just coated copper wire. They are extremely thin and stiff and should not be scratched at all or the coating will come off. They are not practical for everyone.
iMac in a home Hi-Fi system.
Acdoan - I have no idea why you can't use Pandora, etc. I've never had a problem on any of our 4 Macs and I haven't heard of others having that problem either. Does iTunes work? Have you chosen the correct settings under the Sound section of your ...
Car Audio Speakers
I used to have an ok system in an old Saab. The highlight was the JL Audio MicroSub, driven by an Alpine amp. That little subwoofer was very musical and packed a nice small punch. Not enough to rattle any windows, but it really made the rest of th...
Audivarna Plus
I use Audirvana Plus on my MacBook in my office system and really like it. For some reason, though, I can't get it to play on my Mac Mini in my home system. I'm running Pure Music at home. Both of them are good. I think Audirvana is a little smoot...
Earbuds?
I should also mention that I previously had a pair of the Shure in-ear monitors that cost around $150. They sounded great when you could get them to stay in exactly the right position, but they were always moving around. They also had an annoying ...
Earbuds?
Didn't you just post 2 days ago in your other thread that you liked the Klipsch S3's? Anyway, as I said in the other thread, I like my Sennheisers, but I don't know the model number (they are specifically designed to stay put when you are running)...
