DAC with a Balance Control - Does on exist? Yes, but I don't find it annoying, and it doesn't click during the music. I've heard people on other forums complaining that the Schiit Bifrost is a loud clicker, and sometimes during songs.
Wadia 121 Dedoding Computer? I don't know the specs, but it drives my Senn 600's very easily.
Best recorded rock song ? How about "Church" or "Since the Last Time" on Joshua Judges Ruth by Lyle Lovett? Or "Pretty Girls Don't Cry" or "Only the Lonely" on Chris Isaak's Baja Sessions? (actually, most tracks by those guys are well recorded)
More power for better sound at low volumes? Why is everyone assuming that noise is the biggest issue at low volume? I would think it is the lack of dynamics and bass.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em? Interesting. The Mobius got one of the only negative reviews I've ever seen on 6Moons. What kind of equipment does your friend have them hooked up to?
amp for b&w 804 "s" with htm4 "s" 200 watts.... There's a 6-channel Bel Canto amp on A'gon right now for $1500. Ad says it can be bridged to 3-channels of 200WPC each. Seems like a good deal.
Car Audio Speakers On the subject of factory systems, I recently had two different Jaguar XF loaners from the dealer. One had the standard sound system, and one was a luxury package with a B&W system. They both sounded pretty good, but I was a little disappointe...
Please help a noob Since you need a good DAC for your iPod and you are on a budget, I would strongly consider something like the Audiolab 8200 CDQ, which combines a CD player, DAC and preamp and has received outstanding reviews. You would then need an iPod dock like...
Headless MacMini why not just set it to go to sleep after X hours of inactivity? I know there are some that say you need to turn off all of these sorts of options to achieve optimum sound, but I hear no difference in my modest system. Or, you can just leave it on ...
bookshelf for classical music under $2000 I'd suggest avoiding speakers with any kind of metal drivers. You might like Linn Majik 109's. Unfortunately, I haven't auditioned enough other speakers recently to make other suggestions, but the Majiks have a very smooth and clear upper range, IMO.
Arcam rPAC ... opinions? I haven't tried the rPAC, but I have a Centrance Dacport, which is a similar device. I haven't noticed any drain on my laptop battery, and it makes a huge difference in the sound quality. In fact, I used it as a DAC preamp combo for my full sized ...
Pre Pro advice. NAD T 187 or?? I couldn't even find a shop to audition an NAD processor in Los Angeles last year, which was a shame. One nice thing about the NAD design is that it is easily upgradeable. If the glitches are gone, it's probably a good choice for both movies and m...
Pre Pro advice. NAD T 187 or?? I'd recommend checking out the NAD pre-pro threads at avsforums.com. When I was shopping for a processor last year, I wound up deciding against the NAD based on the numerous reports of popping and other problems reported on that forum. I wound up ...
"Best" 80's HiFi System How about a Nakamichi Dragon tape deck or a Revox reel to reel or linear tracking turntable? I thought those were pretty cool in the 80s. |
