Spica vs. modern bookshelf speakers?
the 60's are still a very good speaker, very balanced sounding to me.  I think newer speakers have a leaner sound, maybe a little faster sound, it could be a transparency, not sure.  Natural imaging to fall in love with, however I thought the 50's...

Oregonpapa ’I also do lighter roasts. In addition, I make my brews lighter too. If coffee is brewed too strong, all of the wonderful nuances are lost. The brew has to be just right in order to really enjoy what fine coffee has to offer.’I haven’t ...
Thiel Owners
BellesfanI have a Belles Ref 150a V2 on my Thiel 2.4's. I have a wireworld silver electra 5.2 power cord on it. It was a nice noticeable improvement. I paid about 250.00 for a used one. It might be worth trying a cord or two. Two others that were ...
What exactly is textural density??
ErikI think it could be heard this way. If you listen to a acoustic guitar being played at 15 feet. Then put your ear up close to the guitar when being played. You will hear a much richer harmonic structure. That is something I really enjoy about ...
Acoustic treatment question: do you agree with Dennis Foley that $46k to $65k is required?
Oldhvymec He has - Ceiling treatment and moves a heavy bear skin rug in front of him.. Staring at that bear while listening, kinda weird.. Sure works good though.. A new excitement in your listening environment, when you nod off a little after ...

bdp24 thanks. I really enjoy your perspective and what you bring regarding good musicians. In about 1960 my grandfather got me a hand held transistor radio. Man I wore that out, had my 1 ear plug. Well at that early age I got tired of pop music, o...
Class D
I think I may understand Equivalent Peak Dissipation Resistance which I had never heard until recently in one of the class d amplifier threads. Audio2design and Jaytor have nicely explained that.  It is very informative and interesting. Thanks

Optimize Stereo Experience - NYC Studio
Maybe have a critical listening position and a non critical listening position.  Optimize each one. You can get sliders to slide them back and forth with no damage to anything. You could pull them out when critical listening and put them back when...
thumb drive for source?
I think Erik was on to something because I put my thumb drive to a cable and into my DAC and nothing.I thought I had remembered a reviewer using thumb drives and thought that would be a great way to maybe to take out a little distortion/jitter by ...
thumb drive for source?
Yes it doesn't do anything hooked up that way. I tried. Thanks
thumb drive for source?
Hi cd318 thanks. That was my thinking about doing this. I have heard it can be an improvement without all the stuff that goes on from the transport to the dac. My cd transport is a Theta Pearl which is quite old but never had any problems at all. ...
thumb drive for source?
Yes. I have a cable that goes from the a to b. I don't think it will hurt anything so I think I will try it. Thanks
Do speaker wires matter
Those M1's were fun speakers. You may really enjoy them. They are not finicky but they do need good current going to them to do them fair.
If someone looked through you music (records, CDs, etc.) what would surprise them?
That most of my music they wouldn't know the artists or the music. I have lots and lots of what few people have ever heard of.
