Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
I think that picture is helpful. One thing it seems to show is that this tube shares some characteristics with the well-regarded so-called Shuguang WE 6SN7 plus tubes that were around a couple years ago. They also were constructed with the tube st...
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
@rocray Good to hear. And @decooney good to hear that you’re evaluating the Psvanes. I’ll be watching thread with interest. This thread is causing my "need to increase my backup supply of tubes" addiction to rear its’ ugly head again. 🤨 I don’t n...
Supratek Owners Thread
@skypop the chassis for the power supply is the same size as the preamp itself, so about 13.5 inches by 13.5 inches. Roughly. In terms of height, with the rectifier I'm using (large shouldered tube), the power supply is about 10 inches tall. I ha...
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
@rocray please continue to follow up with posts on this thread describing your experience with these tubes.  Especially if you're able to compare them to some of the well regarded vintage tubes.
audible illusions vs supratek, vs holoaudio vs backert
My brother owns the Audible Illusions. +1 regarding customer service. He sent his in for a service and they talked him into buying a replacement. Then they sold the one he'd sent in to somebody else and he had to wait a looooooong time before they...
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
Or the Linlai HiFi 6SN7s that Grant Fidelity is offering?
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
And one more question - any a you guys compared these to the Grant Fidelity "Treasure Globes"?
Linlai E 6sn7 tubes
I was (and am) excited to see this thread. Then I looked at the prices. Ouch! You can buy a lot of vintage goodness for the price of a pair of these tubes. Really! Having said that, next question is where are you guys buying your Linlai tubes?
Don Sachs Owners Thread
This is a great idea. I don't own one, but Don's preamps are so highly regarded. It'll be great to have a place for owners to share questions, comments and experiences.
What made you change to a 6SN7 preamp?
Here's a summary of my story. I had owned, used and enjoyed Naim equipment for several decades. When I got my Quad 63s and had a friend over he said "I wonder how these would sound with tubes..." Another friend had always run tube equipment. At o...
Supratek Cabernet vs Cary SLP 05.
One thing about the Supratek is that they have a lifetime guarantee.  I expect the Cary sounds excellent. I own a Supratek Cortese, which is a higher priced model than the Chardonnay. It is wonderful. You probably won't go wrong with either one....
Naim Nait original
@nicolascb  Original Naits are worth much more than you might expect. They're a "thing". Really. IIRC, the one that Art Dudley spent time with had been "refurbished". Actually, much more than a mild refurbishment. I think it had been treated to a ...
Researching SET Amps
Here are a few thoughts from a user with a setup that should not work as well as it does --- My JBL 4430 monitors are only 93dB efficient. I'm driving them with a relatively old, and humble, 300B amplifier. My amp was originally sold as a kit by...
Who Offers a Highly Musical Preamp using a 6SN7 tube and a remote?
Great recommendations, I think, above. One of the nice things about so many of them is their high quality, robustness and reliability. I would not hesitate to pick up any one of them on the used market, if that was what I could afford, though I am...
Should I upgrade my preamp/amp or my turntable?
A  Luxman integrated should be wonderful. I have a friend who has one of their very expensive integrateds (590? 509? Sorry, I don't remember which. It's about $9K USD list) and it sounds wonderful. A very beautiful piece of equipment, too.
