This thread has been informative and inspiring and I’m looking forward to hearing these amps at the PAF next month. This thread has also caused me to reflect on the question of "what should I do" or "what should we do?" given the fact that Don &a...
45 Lovers - what are your favorite tubes?
@carlsbad2 Jerry - Your photos are bitchin'. Looks like a really cool setup, and awesome that you can swap tube types like you describe. That would really have me obsessing constantly. @atmasphere The RCA shouldered tubes do sound great and are s...

This is probably the best, most informative thread on Audiogon. Just insane amounts of obscure technical information and experience being shared.  Not that I really understand it.  Looking forward to the PAF opportunity to hear what this all sou...

Regarding the use of adapters - In the owners manual Mick cautions against "excessive" tube rolling, because it can cause the sockets to eventually lose some of their grip. Hence I use socket savers.

I meant to post this question the other day, but it apparently disappeared into the ether -  Who, on this thread, plans to attend the Pacific Audio Fest this year?
Who are your favorite custom amp builders for low powered triode amps?
Sounds so cool. Thanks for sharing.

Hey all - my question is about where you started (front end or back end) with your cable upgrades -  Streamer or transport to DAC?  DAC to preamp? Preamp to power amp? Speaker wires? Kind of seems like improvements at the front end will benef...
Tube amps - what 3 things…
My advice is to download the Decibel X-pro audio app for your smartphone So you can get a rough idea of how loud you like to listen. This will make a big difference. I used to think that high power was required then I got speakers that were 93dB e...
Power cord - 5 ft vs 10 ft ?
@jumia Thank you for your kind comment about my record collection. It has been fun and still is growing, though at a slower rate.  How do I choose what to play? Great, great question. Believe it or not, mostly i am streaming these days. Saves wea...
Power cord - 5 ft vs 10 ft ?
Two days ago I borrowed a mains noise analyzer from my local dealer. I learned how much noise is on the regular ring circuit in my listeningroom. I was surprised at how much noise was on my dedicated 20 Amp circuit. Radio broadcast, static, etc. I ...

I guess I will start with the obvious question. Did you try swapping the position of the tubes? If so, does the fault follow the tube? Just wondering if one might be bad. Start with the 300Bs, then make sure all the others are properly seated. Plu...
The 300B World
Fun thread. And yeah, it would be great if there was a website where 300B owners could share, obsess and research information on various amps and brands and vintages of tubes. BTW, Brent Jesse now includes the JJ 300Bs on his website and speaks p...
Best sounding low power (under 80watts) Class AB amp?
@hi2alex2  Have you measured how loud you normally listen? What makes you think you need 80 watts? What kind of music do you normally listen to and at what volume level? I humbly recommend you download an app something like Decibel X PRO so you ...
High powered single end 300b recommendations
@mikedc  Did you ever measure how loud your normal listening volume is? If so, what did you find out?
amplifiers tube vs. solid state
I encourage you to track down a copy of Roger Sanders white paper - something like tubes vs. solid state. You can find it on the sanders sound systems website in the technical papers section. It's an excellent paper and he makes things very easy t...
