Hickok TV-7/U owners
Makes sense, thanks a lot. I am fairly new to tube testers. I noticed you have 0 for the shunt setting. Is that the number specified or is that where it should be set when there is no number specified? I see there are a lot of tubes in my manual w...
Torn between two amps
Enough said. Bad idea. I think I was enjoying some Knob Creek when I posted this. I'll probably just hang onto both amps and rotate them from time to time. I've been listening to mostly vinyl for the last 12-18 months anyway. Thanks guy's for your...
VPI SDS question
I use the SDS with my Aries 1 and I am always adjusting the SDS speed. I had started a thread about this back in November and the responses were;Power mainsweatherbeltswarm upmoving the table aroundDon't know if this helps but my 2 cents. Good luck
Which cartridge do you use with the vpi classic?
VPI recommends (and sells) both Dynavector and Grado carts. I use a Benz Ruby 3 with my VPI set up (not a classic though) and it is quite a performer and tracks very well.
maggie SMG sounds dead
I had a similar experience when I first got back into audio after 15 years or so. It turned out it was mostly me (my ears), partly my system needing to "break back in" after not being used for so many years and the addition of a power conditioner ...
power condtioner
Not a terribly expensive job to install a dedicated 20 amp circuit providing your existing main service panel box can accept an additional circuit. Not sure what the alternatives are other than an upgraded service if you don't have the room in you...
That last micro cartridge adjustment
Nrenter, I had a few other cartridges that I aligned prior to this one and don't recall having this problem (to this extent anyway) with the others. I will recheck that distance though and thanks for the heads up. Thats is one area I never did rec...
That last micro cartridge adjustment
Markd51, Sorry for not clarifying why I mentioned the washers. Specifically, I'm having problems with the cartridge alignment at the null points and the effective length. When I get one spot on, the other one moves. I can't tell you how many times...
Woofers getting workout, but no bass
oops, particular not paticular
Woofers getting workout, but no bass
mapman, I experienced the same problem a while back and purchased rumble filters. It took care of some of the problem but not all. In my paticular case a change of cartridge did the trick- no rumble woofer movement now. I know this is not what you...
low riding Benz Micro Gold
Just for the record, my Ruby 3 also rides much lower than the 5 or 6 previous carts I've owned. A bit of a pain setting it up with the Mint LP but well worth it once you get it right
What VPI junction box do I have?
Just curious, are you twisting the wires for anti skate? Which way did you twist the wire and what improvement did you hear?
Woofers firing at an inside wall Why?
I have the Khorns and can say they as well do not go down in the bass department like you think they should by the size of the speaker. Maybe a sub woofer?
Low output moving coil cartridge
Wow, thanks again guy's. You summed it up pretty good as I think I understand it now (for the most part). Johnbrown, yes I would prefer the lower wattage amp if I can get away with it. I did turn the volume up to max- of coarse with the arm restin...
Low output moving coil cartridge
Thanks guy's for the great responses. I keep learning from your valuable information. I am looking forward for the arrival of my new cartridge for some experimentation. I am still a little puzzled as to how a more powerful amp will not help the ga...
