"What's Your Best Price?"
Tvad wrote;I don't believe replying with, "What's your best offer?" is a smart a** response. I agree. I was thinking more like someone else's response here that went like; " just pick your favorite number and keep adding zeros till I tell you to s...
"What's Your Best Price?"
Soon after reading this post I received an email (just yesterday) from a potential buyer with that god awful question "What is the absolute bottom dollar you would accept". Well I thought for a few moments as to how I should answer this, a smart a...
How necessary is a zerostat gun?
Another no user here. Mine has been sitting in my cabinet for 2 years now unused. You'll know if you need one.
Why buy older digital gear?
My CD player cost me $2000.00 some 20 years ago and still plays wonderful music. No malfunctions, ever (I hope I didn't just jinx myself). What would a new one of the same quality cost today, $4000.00? I read all the time how some of these new (ex...
Some of the best pre amps used for $600 or less
I second the Doge 8. Sorry now I sold mine now. Not sure you can get one for under $1000.00 used though.
Extending an existing speaker wire
Thanks for the input guy's. I did find a banana plug coupling. For informational purposes they came from Radio Shack and the part number is 278-2098. I realize that this is not the ideal situation but is just for temporary non critical listening. ...
Why Don't More People Love Audio?
I think some have touched on one good reason or another, but what it comes down to is they just "don't care". It needs to float your boat. With that said, why would one spend money on a high end system?
Are there speakers after Stax?
I miss my Stax SR-5's (lower end model back then) that I sold a short while ago (still not sure why). I replaced them with the Sennheiser HD650 powered by a Cayin HA-1A. IMO, the wow factor is just not there like it was with the Stax.
Audiophile Addiction
Hello, I am an avid reader of these forums and I have noticed recently that there have been a few posts regarding this issue. I have to say that yes, enjoying the music is number one. After all, isn't that what got us into high end audio? I do not...
VPI service problems
I have to say I've called VPI on several occasions when I was putting (my bought used) VPI table together and always got great results. I recall that they had limited hours though, something like Tues.- Thurs. only. I believe Mike was the one I ta...
Best speakers for about $3500
There is another forum here on Agon about this same guy who apparently visited a Hi Fi store. The forum is titled "what kind of an audiophile????"Here is a quote of what the OP remarked about him-" he wasn't interested in any opinion but his own a...

Been clean for over a year....Sorry to hear that.
Why not horns?
Proud owner of Klipschorns since 1988 and wouldn't consider any other speaker at this time. No "honky" sounds as described by some others here. My wife keeps bugging me to rip out the carpeting and put in wood floors- now this could be a problem f...
To buy or not to buy a used cartridge?
Having purchased 9 used cartridges here on Agon (and 1 on ebay), I can attest that it is no more risky than other used component purchases. Feedback check is essential here. I have received one cartridge that was not as described (and no, it wasn'...
