Help recommend a good tube preamp @reg19 The Backert Rhythm 1.3 is fully balanced, XLR in and out. That is what I use.
Help recommend a good tube preamp @reg19 I also had a Rogue RP-7, which has balanced in and out, and it is a very nice preamp especially considering its price. But it's not in the same league as the Backert Rhythm.
Help recommend a good tube preamp @reg19 The 6SE was somewhat mechanical sounding - hard in the mids. The Backert is smooth! with a huge soundstage. Remarkable detail without getting in your face. Rich, large, detailed, smooth, emotional. It just sounds like music... That is wit...
Help recommend a good tube preamp +1 for the Backert Labs Rhythm 1.3 with NOS RCA 12SN7 GTA. Replaced my ARC Reference 6 SE with it and couldn’t be happier.
Tube preamp options @skucie It is a simple question, but as often the case there is not a simple answer. I think the 6SE is stellar feeding tube amps. But I am using pair of AGD Tempo to bi-amp (GaN output D). They are very detailed and smooth amps, really lovely. B...
What is the Best Sounding Stand Mount Speaker in the world? Fyne F1-8, ~$10k
Why not? AGD supplies high quality power cords with their amps. Don't know about their other products.
Small Form-Factor CD Player/Transport I third NuPrime. I have the CDT-8 Pro. Great little transport.

ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade? @ditusa It has input gain adjustments L/R. Not the same. And even if it could really reduce the output gain my understanding is the quality of the pots involved are not great.
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade? Just ordered the Reference 6SE. Thanks to all for your help!
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade? I think I have to get the Ref 6. It has 12 db gain balanced output. The Cary has 24db of gain balanced out! And my Bricasti DAC is a 4V out balanced. So everything is rather hot considering this, the amp power and speaker sensitivity. I'm afraid t...
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade? @jmbumgarner01 why not use the two input level controls instead of the Rockwells? Or are they in the line from your DAC so your phono is not attenuated?
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade? Does anyone know what the gain is on the ARC LS28 and Reference 6? I think the Cary 05 is 17db.
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade? @mazian I’m not looking for a fuller sound. The F1-8s are amazing with the Voyager amp. I have some minor concerns that it might be too full with the 05. But my much larger concern is too much gain. The 05 is a high gain preamp and I’m already r... |
