Pass Labs XP32 or XP22?
I'm another vote for the Backert Rhythm 1.3. My amps are AGD, not Pass, so I can't speak to the interaction with Pass amps, but the Backert is superb. I replaced an ARC 6SE with the Backert and that was a big improvement.
Feets Don’t Fail Me Now
+1 paul6001. Quite enjoyable.
Fantasy or reality? Inexpensive solid state preamps that get you 80% there?
Just get the Benchmark La4. You will not be sorry. And they hold their resale value very well if you decide to move on.
Warm and accurate bookshelves that can handle volume
I'll throw these in since they haven't been mentioned: Fyne F1-8 Qln Prestige 1 Both are superb and throw a huge soundstage while being well mannered.
Curious to know your streaming and dac set up and the best recommended streamer under $15k
I recently added a Lumin U2 Mini to stream to my Bricasti M3 DAC via USB, and I am delighted with the results. Hard to imagine it gets much better than this. I had previously upgraded my network with fiber and linear power supplies. My 2¢.
Time to do house cleaning.
I had a pair of ADS speakers back in the day. A friend called them Screaming Bricks. He was right. Tossed overboard.
Advice? Less than $4k, solid state preamp, neutral to gentle
+1 Benchmark LA-4 an absolute steal at $2500 new.

@reg19  I want to point out one more thing about the Backert: the name Rhythm is not arbitrary. It is indeed descriptive.
Qln, Joseph Audio, Audiovector, Marten, or Canton...?
+1 for the QLN and Joseph also consider Fyne F-10 i bought the F-8 (stand mount) over the QLN and the Joseph’s.

@reg19 The Backert Rhythm 1.3 is fully balanced, XLR in and out. That is what I use.

@reg19 I also had a Rogue RP-7, which has balanced in and out, and it is a very nice preamp especially considering its price. But it's not in the same league as the Backert Rhythm.

@reg19 The 6SE was somewhat mechanical sounding - hard in the mids. The Backert is smooth! with a huge soundstage. Remarkable detail without getting in your face. Rich, large, detailed, smooth, emotional. It just sounds like music... That is wit...

+1 for the Backert Labs Rhythm 1.3 with NOS RCA 12SN7 GTA. Replaced my ARC Reference 6 SE with it and couldn’t be happier.
Tube preamp options
@skucie  It is a simple question, but as often the case there is not a simple answer. I think the 6SE is stellar feeding tube amps. But I am using pair of AGD Tempo to bi-amp (GaN output D). They are very detailed and smooth amps, really lovely. B...
What is the Best Sounding Stand Mount Speaker in the world?
Fyne F1-8, ~$10k
