ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade?
I think I have to get the Ref 6. It has 12 db gain balanced output. The Cary has 24db of gain balanced out! And my Bricasti DAC is a 4V out balanced. So everything is rather hot considering this, the amp power and speaker sensitivity. I'm afraid t...
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade?
@jmbumgarner01  why not use the two input level controls instead of the Rockwells? Or are they in the line from your DAC so your phono is not attenuated?
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade?
Does anyone know what the gain is on the ARC LS28 and Reference 6? I think the Cary 05 is 17db.
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade?
@mazian  I’m not looking for a fuller sound. The F1-8s are amazing with the Voyager amp. I have some minor concerns that it might be too full with the 05. But my much larger concern is too much gain. The 05 is a high gain preamp and I’m already r...
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade?
@testrun Did you get the upgrade in your unit? I was planning to do that but they do not allow returns if upgraded. The only reason I might return the unit is as follows. My main concern is that this is a high gain preamp. The Bricasti, I believe...
ARC Reference 6 or Cary SLP 05 with upgrade?
@testrun  Hi testrun! Yes, we do have similar systems, so your input is particularly valuable. Thank you. The Voyager, aside from having gobs of power, is slightly on the warm side and is quite robust in the lower frequencies compared to the Audi...
Has anyone compared Rogue RP-7 to Cary SLP05 and / or Audio Research Ref 5se?
@testrun I’m considering the Cary SLP 05, moving from an RP-7 like you, and also into a GaN based amp (LSA Voyager 350). So I am very interested in how it is working out for you? And did you get the Ultimate Upgrade? We have similar systems. I to...
Bybee Technologies Crystal Series Plug-in Speaker Bullets.
I got these from Ric. Quite a bit less expensive and very effective. http://tweakaudio.com/EVS-2/EVS_Music_Purifier.html
GaN amps: Peachtree or LSA Voyager?
@jaymark  Thank you for all of your posts on this amp. The discussions you generated led me to this amp, albeit somewhat round about, and I am very happy with it.  Can you characterize the sonic improvements resulting from Ric's mod? I do have h...
GaN amps: Peachtree or LSA Voyager?
@nyaudio98  Really? And what review would that be? If you are addressing me, I already own one and love it.
GaN amps: Peachtree or LSA Voyager?
@snapsc  Probably true, but I can't confirm. I leave my amps on all the time and did that with the 225M. I will say that the 225M are very efficient... no idea how they accomplished that, but even under a heavy load they barely get warm. The Voya...
GaN amps: Peachtree or LSA Voyager?
@aldnorab  You are right of course. Probably the tubes (not sure yet), but these are not very old. NOS from Brent Jessee. Supposed to be tested and matched. I have the original tubes that I can stick back in to see, but it is such a pain to do: ha...
GaN amps: Peachtree or LSA Voyager?
@snapsc  It is harder for more analytically inclined or obsessive people. I am not one of them.
GaN amps: Peachtree or LSA Voyager?
@yyzsantabarbara If you are interested in the KEF Reference 1 I have a pair for sale. Less than a year old in mint condition. Walnut. See US Audio Mart. Yeah, I had an LA-4. It would be too much of a good thing with the Voyager. It was great with...
GaN amps: Peachtree or LSA Voyager?
I'm happy (sort of) to report that the noise problem is my preamp, NOT the Voyager. Now I have to figure out what to do about the pre. Replacing tubes in it is a PITA because I have to pull the unit from the cabinet, disconnect all, and remove the...
