New Speakers ... Can't Stop "Listening"
Aolmrd: Olybro - just a bug in your ear, if you are feeling in a larger room that your 3’s are a little light in the bass, I added a JL Audio e110 sub to supplement the very bottom end.  Call it cheating if you like, and I’ve always eschewed the u...
New Speakers ... Can't Stop "Listening"
Clarionet:  not sure what components were mated with the SF Oly 3's you listened to, but I can share my experience with you - mated with a Pass Labs X250.8 and a First Sound PD III tubed pre amp, the SF's are anything but 'rolled off', nor 'polite...
Sub-Woofer?
Plus one on the JL Audio e110 powered subwoofer.  I've had several, and sold every one of them.  Beyond my pay grade and patience level to properly integrate a sub.  System, room, patience, and skill limitations have caused me over the years to es...
First Tube Amp
As far as Chinese manufactured audio components are concerned, I’ve owned several Jungson products and they are excellent.  Several SS amps, pre amps, cables, speakers, and CD players.  Never a single problem, not one.  Beautifully made, lucious s...
Two Type of sound and listener preference are there more?
Simply put, if the nature of the sound produced by your system doesn’t cause a positive emotional response, it really doesn’t matter what camp you are in.  My system allows me an emotional connection with the music, if it didn’t I’d make changes t...
Integrateds: Why do they all SUCK?
The animal skin clad, decrepit, mud-stained clan hunkered closely together as huge rain drops relentlessly pelted their goosebumped, filthy bodies.  A thunderous clap in the sky had just accompanied a jagged bolt of lightning that exploded th...
Please , Thank you.Help in choosing a CD or a CD/Universal player
Bought the same Hegel you list and just love it. So analog sounding it’s scary.  Beautiful sounding cdp.
Done buying new vinyl
lots of really good advice and thoughts re: vinyl in this discussionFWIW I've been a vinyl 'aficionado' since about 1968 (and boy do I wish I hadn't sold all those albums while 4 years in college !).  Late to the party, but recently have been fill...
Mapleshade Isolation: Does Nothing?
a 'single piece of wood' is really hard to come by; most planks, posts, platforms are laminated in naturelaminated wood is more stable, less susceptible to warping and splitting
Replacement CD Player?
FWIW - been listening to my Hegel CDP-4 lately, first CDP I’ve owned that takes me beyond comparing CDs to my much more expensive and preferred medium vinyl rig.  I just forget about thinking ‘what’s better’ (and why) and enjoy listening to music....
Mapleshade Isolation: Does Nothing?
Recently installed Mapleshade Bedrock speaker stands under a pair of Totem monitors in the 'man cave'.  FWIW, this 'system' is not for music, but for TV only, using the TV as the audio source run through an NAD 3020 digital integrated amplifier.  ...
Looking for thoughts from Nottingham Analog table owners
The most unfortunate part of this entire hobby is we are limited by the quality of every source recording, no matter what the medium.  We can ramp up the $, the technology, the expertise, the materials, the designs, the manufacturing, but in the e...
Looking for thoughts from Nottingham Analog table owners
Have had the 1800 for a couple months.
Looking for thoughts from Nottingham Analog table owners
I’m beginning to believe that another reason that components I own and enjoy which others claim to sound dark, veiled, imprecise, or short on detail, and which I find sound opposite those descriptions, has to do with the extremely low noise floor ...

The 2nd point I meant to make was that the Kiseki took at least 40 - 50 hours to shake the bulk of the zip out of it (my experience) - way too hot for my tastes to begin with; that's somewhere between 60 and 70 albums, then it begins to settle in....
